    Responsibilities

    Position Summary: Focuses on designing, developing, and optimizing the tooling and processes used in cold/warm/hot forming and forging.

    Key responsibilities include interpreting blueprints, designing/selecting appropriate tooling, and developing tooling layouts.

    Provide daily manufacturing support to ensure production and quality requirements are met.

    Work closely with Design Engineering, Quality and Production to make necessary improvements and changes as well as implement new tool designs from initial concept through prototype development and into full production.

    KEY TASKS

  • Designing and developing tools (dies, punches, used in forming/forging.
  • Design/Select and install equipment/tooling to support manufacturing of new products
  • Choosing appropriate materials for both the forming tools and the parts being formed
  • Analyzing and improving existing forming/forging processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality.

  • Maintaining accurate records of part setups, process changes, and tool layouts.
  • Working with engineering, quality, and production teams to ensure product manufacturability.
  • Leading projects/project teams and ensuring projects are completed on schedule
  • Provide maintenance support with diagnosing and correcting an equipment issue.

    Including the ability to reverse engineer an undocumented machine component.
  • Training of forming/forging operators on manufacturing processes.
  • Qualifications

    REQUIREMENTS

  • A strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and material flow.

    (FEA a plus)
  • Knowledge of metal properties, forming/forging processes, and manufacturing techniques.
  • Proficiency designing mechanical equipment, fixturing and tooling in CAD (Catia preferred, SolidWorks is also a plus).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T specifications.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to analyze and improve manufacturing processes
  • Understanding of quality control principles.
  • Well organized with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills.
  • Able to work under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
