Job description

The Global Marketing Engines and Experiences (E&E) team within Microsoft is responsible for delivering integrated marketing experiences for Microsoft by building, running, and innovating a globally scaled engine to deliver connected journeys that delight customers and create fans.

The Media Data Science and Analytics team within E&E enables data-driven decision making by providing data products and insights to measure marketing’s performance and impact, understand the customer experience, and develop systems of learning for marketers.

In this leadership role, you’ll directly support Microsoft’s mission by enabling data-driven marketing decisions that drive customer engagement and revenue growth.

  As Marketing Data Analytics, Director in E&E, you will lead the development of intelligent tools, advanced analytics, and strategic insights that enable our marketing team to make data-driven decisions in a dynamic environment.

You will set the vision and strategy for scalable analytical solutions and systems of learning that inform key business decisions and uncover opportunities for future growth.

You will lead the rhythm of business for your team and translate complex data into strategic guidance and actionable recommendations for senior stakeholders.

You will oversee the development of scalable, efficient, and impactful analytical data products, while fostering a culture of curiosity, precision, and innovation.

Your leadership will ensure the team is equipped to navigate ambiguity, dive deep into data to uncover meaningful insights, and tell compelling stories that influence business direction.

**Responsibilities**

+ Lead and oversee large-scale, complex analytics and reporting initiatives, ensuring delivery of accurate, accessible, and repeatable insights that drive strategic decision-making across all levels of the organization.
+ Serve as a thought leader in the business and data landscape, guiding the development of standardized reporting frameworks, experimentation strategies, and performance analytics across multiple marketing and sales channels.
+ Architect and scale advanced analytical tools and self-service dashboards that empower stakeholders, uncover customer engagement patterns, and foster a culture of data-driven learning within the Marketing organization.
+ Proactively partner with senior business leaders to embed data and insights into strategic planning, campaign optimization, and investment decisions.
+ Provide rhythm of business leadership through timely, actionable insights and recommendations.
+ Champion user-centric design and data storytelling best practices to ensure insights are intuitive, visually compelling, and aligned with stakeholder needs.
+ Guide and mentor teams in executing complex data analyses across multiple sources, leading strategic discussions that connect analytical findings to business context and drive repeatable, scalable impact.
+ Collaborate with Data Services and Engineering teams to define and prioritize technical requirements that ensure data availability, quality, and integrity—enabling secure, compliant, and scalable analytics across the organization.

**Qualifications**

**Required/Minimum Qualifications**

+ Master's Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 4+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis OR Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 6+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis
+ OR equivalent experience.
+ 4+ years experience handling large data sets to reveal patterns, trends, and associations, from behavioral and interaction data that can influence outcomes
+ 4+ years experience translating complex data analysis and results into a compelling narrative and data driven storytelling to executive level audiences
+ 4+ years experience leading technical efforts and collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams (Product, Engineering, etc)

**Additional or Preferred Qualifications**

+ Master's Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 8+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis OR Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 12+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis OR equivalent experience.
+ 3+ years people management experience and/or informal/indirect team leadership experience.

Data Analytics M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $130,900 - $251,900 per year.

There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $165,600 - $272,300 per year.

Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
