Materials Examiner and Identifier (Fork Lift Operator) Job Opening In Red River Army Depot – Now Hiring Defense Logistics Agency

This is an Expeditionary Civilian (EC) position, and the incumbent will be designated as Emergency Essential (EE).

The incumbent is subject to repeated deployments.

PLEASE READ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Responsibilities Receives, examines and determines the condition and disposition of a wide variety of materials.

Reviews disposal turn-in document accompanying material.

Compares data against property assuring correct information and proper documentation (e.g. stock number, nomenclature, quantity, unit of issue, disposal authority code, DEMIL, condition code).

Visually inspects usable property for obvious signs of condition and determines acceptability.

Determines condition and reportability and special handling requirements (e.g., hazardous material, precious metals, security, DEMIL, Special focus items, etc.) and assigns appropriate classification instructions for warehousing.

Verifies accuracy of demilitarization codes, takes action to challenge questionable items/codes, and maintains segregated storage of property requiring DEMIL.

Ensures proper certification is attached to turn-in document when demilitarized by host or generating activity.

Performs special and periodic inventory of property; re-palletizes/re-locates property as necessary.

Operates forklifts and related materials handling equipment to move, load and unload, stack or un-stack palletized materials, supplies, and equipment.

Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Applicants will be rated in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard for Trades and Labor Occupations.

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at the level for which you are applying.

Emphasis is placed on how you gained the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time, and the required ability or potential to perform the job.

Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element (SOE) will be eliminated from further competition.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Physical Effort Performs moderate to heavy lifting when moving material by hand or hand-truck.

Ability to lift or carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.

Heavier items are moved using weight-handling equipment or assistance from other workers.

Work is performed on hard surfaces, rough terrain, and on forklifts.

Assignments require prolonged work in tiring and uncomfortable positions, including standing, walking, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling material.

Working Conditions Work is performed inside warehouses that may be hot, cold, damp, and drafty.

Work extends to outside areas, such as dock areas, scrap yards, or other areas exposed to varying weather conditions.

Exposure to physical hazards associated with scrap yards, open storage, and warehouse operations.

Safety equipment is worn as required.

Education Additional Information PLEASE READ This is an Expeditionary Civilian (EC) position, and the incumbent will be designated as Emergency Essential (EE).

In the event of a crisis situation, the incumbent may be required to deploy via temporary reassignment or be required to stay in place to support contingency operations.

The incumbent may be required to take part in readiness exercises.

This position cannot be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the organization to function effectively; therefore, the position requires the incumbent to be screened from military recall.

Military Reservists selected for an EC position must arrange for removal from the reserve component prior to appointment to an EC position.

This requirement must be met prior to placement in an EC position.

Positions identified as EE are subject to deployment to combat support situations.

Deployment will be via Temporary Duty (TDY) orders.

Deployment may entitle the employee to additional monetary compensation dependent upon the deployment location.

Additional allocations are based on the Department of State's determination of a combat zone.

The incumbent is subject to repeated deployments.

Duration of deployment generally does not exceed six months with a possible dwell time of 12-18 months.

The incumbent may be required to deploy as soon as 90 days from their return.

The incumbent must sign the Statement of Understanding and Agreement for Expeditionary Civilian (EC) positions indicating at all times to meet and maintain readiness requirements and be fully equipped, trained and qualified to deploy.

When not in a deployment status the work performed at your home station is to compliment the operations at the DLA Disposition Services location.

Drug-Free Workplace Policy The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) is committed to maintaining a safe, drug-free workplace.

All DLA employees are required to refrain from illegal drug use on and off duty.

DLA conducts pre-employment, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, and random drug testing.

Applicants tentatively selected for employment in testing designated positions will undergo a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.

Refusal to undergo testing or testing positive for illegal drugs will result in withdrawal of the tentative job offer and a six-month denial of employment with DLA from the date of the drug test.

Employees in drug testing designated positions are subject to random drug testing.

The DLA drug testing panel tests for the following substances: marijuana, cocaine, opiates, heroin, phencyclidine, amphetamines, methamphetamines, fentanyl, norfentanyl, methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), methylenedioxyamphetamine (MDA), and opioids.
