JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The College of Earth and Mineral Sciences at Penn State is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar to perform research under the direction of Professor Doug Wolfe (Materials Science & Engineering) and Professor Aman Haque (Mechanical Engineering).
Job Duties:
Perform electrical characterization on semiconductor devices as a function of radiation exposure.
The specimens are discrete wide bandgap devices (diodes and transistors) as well as larger systems (field programmable gate arrays, memory).
Collaborate with national lab(s) to perform experiments that mimic ionizing radiation.
Perform modeling and/or experimental analysis (microscopy, spectroscopy) to investigate the fundamentals of radiation effects in electronics.
Analyze data.
Disseminate findings in journals and conferences.

Qualifications and Requirements:
Must be a US citizen.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. as of the hire date in Electrical/Computer/Mechanical/Materials/Nuclear Engineering or related discipline.
Excellent foundation in semiconductor device physics and reliability.
Hands-on experience with device and system (discrete devices to FPGA) characterization.
Experience in radiation effects (single event, total ionizing dose, displacement damage) is very helpful.
Excellent written/oral communication skills.
This is a postdoctoral position, funded for one year from the date of hire, with an excellent possibility of renewal pending available funding and satisfactory performance.
