The will contribute to the design, simulation, prototyping, and testing of advanced mechanical components and assemblies that drive the performance, reliability, and usability of our products.
You’ll take ownership of engineering tasks and collaborate with a multidisciplinary R&D team to develop precision mechanical subsystems for cryogenic and vacuum-based instrumentation.
This role supports new product introductions, custom development, and sustaining engineering efforts, with a focus on innovation, integration, and quality.
2 Essential Duties, Responsibilities, and Expectations
Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and subsystemsTake ownership of engineering tasks across the full development cycle—from concept and simulation to prototyping, testing, and releaseCreate and release engineering drawings, reports, and presentations to support product development and manufacturingConduct analysis, build prototypes, develop test plans, and perform validation testing to ensure performance and reliabilityCollaborate with electrical, software, firmware, and manufacturing engineers to ensure seamless integration of mechanical designs into complex systemsWork closely with manufacturing and project management to communicate needs, resolve roadblocks, and align work with company prioritiesManage development of mechanical subsystems and lead projects when requiredParticipate in technical design reviews, providing feedback to enhance quality, manufacturability, and performanceBalance long-term engineering goals with short-term project deliverables in a fast-paced, dynamic R&D environmentStay current with emerging technologies and best practices in mechanical design, simulation, and precision instrumentation3 Minimum Qualifications (Experience /Education)
Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering2–5 years experience in mechanical design and product development 4 Competencies // Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA’s)
Strong understanding of engineering principles including mechanics, thermodynamics, and materials science, with the ability to apply them effectivelyProficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks), including modeling, assemblies, and drawing creationStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and manufacturabilityEffective communication skills, capable of articulating technical concepts across multidisciplinary teamsAbility to manage multiple concurrent tasks and contribute to project deliverables in a fast-paced environmentAction-oriented self-starter with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and continuous improvementKnowledge of mechanical drawing standards (e.g., ASME Y14) and best practices for manufacturing parts and assembliesFamiliarity with ERP systems and understanding of engineering-manufacturing workflowsExposure tocross-disciplinary integration and systems-level thinking5 Preferred Qualifications
Experience with vacuum and/or cryogenic systemsExperience with vibrations design and analysisHands-on experience in machine shop environment, including familiarity with machining processes, tolerances, and fabrication techniquesExposure to simulation tools such as FEA for mechanical performance validationExperience developing mechanical systems for scientific instruments or high-precision applications Physical Requirements
