The Mechanical Engineering department leads in the mechanical hardware design, development, and production of weapons systems.

We use state-of-the-art tools, processes, and technology, with capabilities encompassing a broad range of technical disciplines, including product engineering, manufacturing, technical services, materials engineering, analysis and test, rapid hardware development/builds and configuration and data management documentation.

The Mechanical Products Team is seeking a CAD Design Engineer in the Shipboard Effectors Department.

The position is located on-site in Tucson, AZ

**What You Will Do:**

The candidate will design major components or major portions of functional systems, technically advanced prototypes, and specific products using computer design and engineering systems.

+ Develops or improves products, test equipment, or manufacturing processes.

Develops data and makes parametric models, layouts, sketches, and notes for design proposals.
+ Investigates pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, interchangeability, replaceability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost.
+ Designs, develops and tests metallic or non-metallic structures or materials and their related fabrication processes for use in engineering designs.
+ They will solve routine problems of varying scope and complexity following established policies and procedures with minimal direction or supervision.

**Qualifications You Must Have:**

+ Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree or in absence of a degree, an additional 2 years of experience is required.
+ 2 years of experience with CREO Parametric (Pro/Engineer) solid modeling CAD software or similar (SolidWorks, CATIA, Inventor)
+ The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.

U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

**Qualifications We Prefer:**

+ Understanding of basic principles, theories, and concepts for creation and preparation of engineering design documentation
+ Technical knowledge sufficient to perform tasks such as preparation/changes to drawings/models and create new 3D models and drawings with general direction
+ Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) including simple tolerance analysis
+ Interpret, apply, and make decisions regarding the application of documentation specification such as MIL-STD-31000, Y14.5M, ASME Y14.24 and ASME Y14.100
+ Knowledge of mechanical fabrication processes and techniques

The salary range for this role is 66,000 USD - 130,000 USD.

The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role.

If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
