Medical Records Data Recorder Job Opening In Tuskegee – Now Hiring Tuskegee University


Job description

Position Title Medical Records Data Recorder Status Full Time Job Summary The medical records data recorder is responsible for filing, organizing, and retrieving patient records, both paper documentation and electronic files.

Daily activities include keeping track of patient medical history, test results, filing and coding of patient records.

Essential Job Duties This is a reposted position
  • Performs daily patient audits

  • Maintains record availability by processing charts into the digital patient database

  • Retrieves medical records by following chart-out procedures

  • Delivers medical records to assigned clinicians and students

  • Keeps clinicians informed by communicating the availability of requested records

  • Files tests results and reports into the appropriate patient files.

  • Adheres to federal, state, and local guidelines with regards to medical records

  • Complete clerical duties including answering phones, responding to emails, and processing patient admission and discharge records

  • Files all patients’ medical records and information

  • Keep all medical records confidential/ familiarity with HIPPA

  • Ensures that all patient charts, paperwork, and reports are completed in an accurate and timely manner

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training)
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)

  • 1-2 years of experience working as a medical records clerk or related area
  • Physical Demands
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment

  • Ability to walk short distances

  • Ability to prepare and analyzing data and figures

  • Ability to view a computer terminal; extensive reading
  • Skills and Attributes Knowledge of:
  • Advanced understanding of medical terminology

  • Excel, Word, Microsoft, Outlook
