Mid-Level Interior Designer (Level III) Job Opening In Denver – Now Hiring Duet Design Group

Job description

Position: Mid-Level Interior Designer (Level III).
Effective Date: End Q1 (2025) or Sooner.

Position Overview:

As a Mid-Level Interior Designer at Duet Design Group, your primary role is to support the design team in executing high-end residential and hospitality projects.

You will collaborate closely with Senior Designers and the Principal, focusing on producing design deliverables, managing documentation, and ensuring alignment with client expectations.

This position emphasizes technical execution, creative input, and team collaboration.

Unlike the Senior Designer role, the Mid-Level Interior Designer is not responsible for mentoring team members or taking ownership of complete project phases.

Instead, you will refine your skills and contribute to the success of each project through consistent and precise task management.

Mission:

To support the design team by executing assigned tasks with accuracy and efficiency, maintaining high standards of quality, and contributing to the overall success of Duet Design Group’s projects.

Core Responsibilities:

Design Collaboration:
  • Work under the guidance of Senior Designers to execute assigned tasks, including space planning, material selection, and design documentation.
  • Provide creative input during brainstorming sessions and team meetings, aligning with project goals and client expectations.
  • Prepare mood boards, renderings, and design presentations for review by Senior Designers or the Principal.
Technical Documentation:
  • Draft design plans, specifications, and AutoCAD drawings with precision and attention to detail.
  • Created and updated project documentation, ensuring compliance with Duet Design Group’s standards and timelines.
  • Support the Senior Designer in preparing specification sheets, budgets, and presentation materials.
Client Support:
  • Assist Senior Designers during client meetings and presentations by preparing materials and documenting feedback.
  • Conduct vendor research to support material selections and budget alignment.
  • Collaborate with the design team to address client feedback and integrate changes into the project.

Project Phases:

Programming:
  • Support site measurements, existing furniture inventories, and data entry into AutoCAD.
  • Collaborate on preliminary design concepts and project budgets.
Schematic Design
  • Develop floor plans, elevations, and other design drawings under Senior Designer guidance.
  • Assist in creating visual presentations and selecting materials for client review.
Construction Documentation
  • Assist in selecting fixed finishes and producing detailed construction documents.
  • Organize documentation for contractor collaboration, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Art and Accessories
  • Research and source accessories under the direction of Senior Designers or the Principal.
  • Prepare imagery and supporting documentation for client approval.
Installation
  • Provide logistical support during installations as directed by the Senior Designer or Principal.

Core Competencies:

Technical Proficiency:
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, Microsoft Office Suite, Concept Board, and Studio Webware.
  • Ability to produce detailed and accurate design documentation.
Creative Problem-Solving:

  • Maintain clear and respectful communication within the team, ensuring alignment and productivity.
Client and Vendor Knowledge:
  • Develop familiarity with key vendors and their offerings and understand styles and price points relevant to Duet Design Group’s clients.
  • Stay informed about industry trends to enhance design proposals and solutions.

Key Outcomes:
  • Task Execution: Complete assigned tasks with 95% accuracy and meet all project deadlines.
  • Design Collaboration: Work collaboratively with Senior Designers to produce high-quality deliverables.
  • Client Support: Ensure all client feedback is documented and addressed appropriately.
  • Professional Development: Continuously refine technical and creative skills to prepare for potential growth within the firm.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in residential or hospitality interior design.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant design software.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, attention to detail, and a client-focused mindset.

Growth and Advancement:

Duet Design Group values professional growth and offers opportunities for Mid-Level Designers to advance within the company.

Potential career paths include:

  • Senior Interior Designer: Transition into a leadership role responsible for mentoring team members and managing complete project phases.
  • Specialized Design Contributor: Develop expertise in fixed finishes, furniture procurement, or construction documentation.
  • Project Manager: Transition into overseeing project timelines, deliverables, and high-level coordination.

Key Differences from Senior Interior Designer Role:
  • Leadership: The Mid-Level Designer supports the team but does not mentor Junior Designers or Interns.

Leadership responsibilities are reserved for the Senior Designer role.
  • Accountability: While the Senior Designer is accountable for all project documentation, the Mid-Level Designer focuses on supporting documentation and task execution.
  • Independence: Mid-Level Designers work under the guidance of Senior Designers and Principals, whereas Senior Designers are expected to work independently and lead project phases.
  • Experience: The Senior Designer requires 7+ years of experience, while the Mid-Level Designer is designed for professionals with 3+ years of experience looking to refine their skills and advance.
