Job description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Testing and Validation:

  • Conduct detailed testing and validation of embedded systems and electronic components.

  • Develop and implement test plans, procedures, and scripts.

  • Document test results and provide analysis and recommendations.
  • Prototype Development:

  • Assist in the design, development, and debugging of prototype embedded systems.

  • Collaborate with engineers to create and test new hardware and firmware solutions.

  • Assemble and test circuit boards and embedded devices.
  • Lab Maintenance:

  • Maintain and calibrate lab equipment to ensure accurate test results.

  • Organize and manage lab inventory, including components and tools.

  • Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards in the lab environment.
  • Collaboration and Support:

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware, software, and systems engineers.

  • Provide technical support and guidance on embedded systems projects.

  • Participate in project planning and review meetings.
  • Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in the lab environment.

  • Stay updated with the latest developments in embedded systems and testing methodologies.

  • Propose and implement new tools and techniques to enhance lab efficiency and accuracy.

  • Conduct research and reference reading to assist higher-level engineers in obtaining technical information; keeps informed of currently approved standards, codes, and procedures applied to engineering specialty.

  • Perform engineering tasks that are varied, with established deadlines that may be somewhat difficult in character.

  • Support projects with limited scope or parts of more complex projects with detailed instructions on the intent and scope of the documents to be prepared.

  • May generate sections of design specifications of more complex projects or complete specifications of less complex projects.

  • Using computer-assisted test methods, conduct laboratory investigations on equipment or systems.

  • Assist in preparation of reports, correspondence, or technical studies.

  • Perform a variety of engineering tasks and any other position-related duties as assigned or requested.
  • REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL, AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • The incumbent must have a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited academic institution and 8 years of related engineering experience or have an accredited Master of Science in engineering with at least 6 years of related engineering experience or have an accredited doctoral degree in engineering with at least 4 years of related engineering experience.

  • Must have comprehensive knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices of engineering to provide consultative services on development programs and in the design and development of systems and components.

  • Requires knowledge and skill sufficient to apply the latest developments in engineering to solve complex problems in the specialty area.

  • Must have excellent communication and analytical skills and must possess effective planning/organizing skills.

  • Must have a working knowledge of computer systems and computer-based engineering tools.

  • Must possess well-developed leadership skills and have the ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems from a broad perspective.

  • Must possess a valid, state issued driver's license.

    Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance.

  • EXPERIENCE WITH:

  • Analog and digital electronic fundamentals, familiar with various sensors like strain gauges, accelerometers, and thermal sensors, while also possessing an understanding of digital logic and EU conversions.

  • Multi-meter, O-scope, spectrum analyzer, signal generator, to accomplish tasks such as checkout, calibration, troubleshooting and repair.

  • A variety of electrical, instrumentation, and avionics on aircraft including bench testing.

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, or Python.

  • Experience with embedded development tools and environments (., JTAG, debuggers, oscilloscopes).

  • Knowledge of electronic circuit design and PCB layout.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with TTC Ware, AutoCAD and SolidWorks.

  • Experience in Flight Test Instrumentation.

  • Cyber Security certification.

  • Schematics, mechanical drawings, wire diagrams, wire repair, block diagrams and technical publications.

  • IRIG 106 Telemetry Standards & TTC hardware/software experience.

    The expected salary range for this position is $126-$166K annually.
