Basic Function:
Under direction of the Director for ML Services, the Administrator for Integrated English Language Development (ELD) and Academic Language Development (ALD) Professional Learning supports the effective implementation and integration of language development into core instruction across all content areas.
The administrator designs and delivers professional learning, provides instructional leadership, supports school and central office leaders, and ensures the implementation of research-based strategies that enhance the success of multilingual learners (MLs).
This role contributes to the district's commitment to equity and excellence by improving outcomes for English Learners (ELs) through systemic capacity-building efforts.

Distinguishing Characteristics of the Class:
This position provides leadership in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of Integrated ELD and ALD instructional practices across K–12 settings.
The administrator works closely with site and central office leaders to build capacity among educators to support the linguistic and academic success of multilingual learners.
While collaborating with various departments and school teams, the administrator focuses on instructional leadership and professional learning that advances equity and access.

Portland Public Schools is a public employer and participates in the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS/OPSRP).
Eligible employees are required by statute to contribute 6% of salary on a pre-tax basis to OPSRP/IAP, after serving six months under a PERS employer.
