Overview
Works under the direction of the Director of IT Infrastructure; this position requires a high degree of technical, customer service, teamwork, and organizational skills to support Loretto network operations.
The position requires the ability to function independently and team environments.
Responsibilities
Job duties specific to this position:
+ Perform a wide range of network administration duties including installations, debugging, maintenance, upgrades, and general support for Cisco network equipment.
+ Evaluate, test, and deploy all software and hardware upgrades to the networking infrastructure.
+ Assist in the configuration and deployment of core and peripheral network devices, which will require continuous learning of new devices.
+ Proactive monitoring of all network devices, services, and servers using a combination of tools to ensure high availability and SLA’s in a fast-paced environment.
+ Collect and review network utilization data for capacity and planning purposes.
+ Assist in developing, implementing, testing, and maintaining disaster recovery plans.
+ Interface with vendors for procurement & maintenance of all Loretto network infrastructures.
+ Manage & troubleshoot network and Internet connectivity throughout the organization.
+ Work closely with the fellow Loretto IT Department team members to provide end-user support and issue resolutions.
+ Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging network tools and technologies.
+ Research, evaluate and recommend network technologies to support business requirements.
+ Rigorously create and maintain documentation for all processes and procedures.
+ Collaborate with and support the work of other staff engaged in support functions
+ Attend and actively participate in weekly meetings.
+ Coordinate with the rest of the Loretto team to meet the corporate goals and team objectives.
+ Be able to provide emergency 24 x 7 on-call support to address network issues.
+ Be able to lift network devices to install in racks and deploy battery backup devices that may weigh up to 50 lbs.
+ Serve in an On-call position on a rotating basis in the IT department.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
+ Degree in Networking, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related work experience (relevant work experience, certifications and education may be considered in lieu of a degree).
+ Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a Network Engineering role, preferably with Cisco network equipment.
+ Proven experience working with networking equipment specifically, including maintenance, upgrades and troubleshooting.
+ Ability to utilize packet capturing tools such as Wireshark and TCPDUMP to diagnose network issues.
+ Working knowledge of Cisco Unified Communications systems and Cisco Wireless networks are a plus.
+ Working knowledge of Firewall / VPN (Check Point is a plus) and security concepts.
+ CCNA and CCDA are a plus.
+ Significant experience working with Linux based OS, Microsoft Windows servers and network monitoring tools.
+ Strong knowledge of LAN and WAN networking, including: TCP/IP, VLANs, Ethernet, switching and Spanning Tree, routing and routing protocols (i.e. OSPF), 802.1Q, ACLs, GRE, SIP, DHCP and DNS.
+ Strong technical aptitude and ability to research & solve complex issues independently.
+ Willingness and ability to learn new skills and apply them as needed.
+ Ability to effectively communicate issues and resolutions to all levels of the organization.
+ Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive customer and internal information.
+ Consistent access to reliable transportation.
An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.
