Description #2022-034 The City of Sherwood has two levels of Network Engineers.
We are seeking to hire either a journey-level Network Engineer OR Senior Network Engineer .
Salary range for Network Engineer - $38.41 to $47.99 hourly
Salary range for Senior Network Engineer - $45.20 to $56.47 hourly
NETWORK ENGINEER's Primary Purpose: Under general supervision, perform functions of a network engineer focusing on, but not limited to, installation, repair, troubleshooting and maintenance of a telecommunication network utilizing fiber optics.
This position will assist other broadband staff to plan, design, develop, and implement new fiber networks and enhance existing networks.
As part of a team, respond to infrequent network outages and perform/coordinate the repair with the ability to respond on a 24 hour a day 7-day week basis.
Work with broadband staff on installing new fiber optic connections.
Administer network equipment including routers, switches, customer premise equipment, and all associated equipment.
May provide training, orientation, and mentoring to volunteers, students, and newly assigned personnel on policies and practices of the Broadband Utility.
SENIOR NETWORK ENGINEER's Primary Purpose:
Primary support to the City's telecommunication utility, Sherwood Broadband, including administering and supporting core, edge, and client equipment.
Perform a variety of senior level network administration duties, analysis and support in the administration of Local and Wide Area Networks including hardware, software, security and other related applications and services.
Provide 24/7 troubleshooting and support for client outages and issues including the coordinating of physical plant repair.
Maintain system documentation including field verifying physical assets and taking appropriate measures to insure their protection.
Additionally, perform the same/similar networking duties for the City of Sherwood.

Selection Process

A first evaluation of education, training and work experience of submitted application packets including a resume and cover letter will be screened by Human Resources.

A Subject Matter Expert (SME) Panel will perform an in-depth evaluation of education, experience and training taken from your employment application materials to include your resume and cover letter and responses to the supplemental questions (if applicable).
This process will begin approximately the week of November 28, 2022.

Our goal is to schedule oral panel interviews with candidates that successfully passed the SME evaluation step as soon as possible.
