Pay Range: $63.43hr - $68.43hr Responsibilities:
- Coordinate daily and weekly assignments for the installation, deployment, diagnostics, and troubleshooting of the Agency s critical enterprise wireless and network infrastructure under the guidance of the assigned Agency Network Manager or Lead.
- Collaborate with Network, Security, and other IT teams, as well as non-IT staff, to assist with problem resolution, issue mitigation, and technical solutions.
- Ensure all assignments are completed accurately and on time, providing regular progress, task, and deliverable updates to the assigned manager.
- Monitor and identify issues with Agency wireless networks and remediate them.
- Support wireless and network connectivity on Windows and Mac-based systems.
- Support wireless connectivity on various tablets and phones such as Apple devices.
- Manage the wireless network and device lifecycle at all stages.
- Assist with supporting State Health Laboratory network connectivity for instruments and supporting systems.
- Assist with Client registration of devices on the network.
- Conduct onsite wireless assessments and create or maintain wireless heatmaps using Ekahau units and iPads.
- Perform enterprise wireless network deployments, installations, and upgrades.
- Work comfortably on ladders and lift up to 40 lbs as required.
- Perform firmware, software, security, and feature upgrades, along with other maintenance tasks.
- Monitor the Agency trouble ticket system and complete assigned network tickets.
- Serve as first and second-tier support for wireless and network connectivity issues, troubleshooting and resolving routine problems.
- Assist Agency staff and contractors in resolving wireless and other network-related issues.
- Coordinate and assist with testing and validation of network systems.
- Adhere to State and Agency security and IT policies and standards.
- Work closely with Network, Security, and Server Hosting teams to maintain appropriate engagement and focus.
- Support additional IT tasks such as system and network installations or upgrades, including racking equipment.
- Create, maintain, and improve wireless documentation and technical notes.
- Plan, organize, and implement project milestones through completion.
- Provide updates to the Project Team and participate in weekly reviews with DPH.
- Perform frequent site visits to remote office locations across South Carolina, with flexibility for extended travel hours as required.
- Communicate technical and project details effectively with IT and non-IT staff at all levels.
- Comply with DPH confidentiality and Business Associate (BA) agreements as applicable.
- Complete required online HIPAA training.
- Maintain productive working relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.
- Follow all Agency IT standards, policies, and procedures, including documentation requirements.
- Ensure all project notes, documents, and work products remain the sole property of the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control.
Required Skills:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience with Local Area Network (LAN), WLAN, and WAN.
- Minimum of 3 years of network administration experience with Cisco and Palo Alto Firewall.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience with Cisco Identity Services Engine (Client).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience with ticketing systems.
- Strong understanding of computer and network operating system fundamentals.
- Ability to climb and work on ladders to install wireless access points.
- Ability to lift and move PCs, monitors, and other equipment.
- Valid driver s license.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Network Certification.
- Experience with SolarWinds Orion.
- Experience with Ekahau Sidekick.
Required Education:
- Associate degree in a relevant field or a high school diploma with equivalent work experience.
