The School's mission is to lead innovation in human-centered information and computing technologies, understand their economic and social significance, and develop an educated workforce to further advance technology.

With approximately 4,000 undergraduates, 600 master's students, 400 doctoral students, 100 faculty members, and 85 staff, the School is the largest computing program within the UC system and one of the largest in the nation, providing exceptional opportunities for discovery and learning in all areas of information and computer sciences.

Artificial intelligence and Machine Learning are a focus of UC Irvine's research.

Interdisciplinary AI research at UC Irvine is further facilitated by the Steckler Center for Responsible, Ethical, and Accessible Technology (CREATE), the AI Science Institute, as well as the Irvine Initiative in AI, Law, and Society.
