DescriptionThe Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Cancer Biology (*MIC*) ([https://med.virginia.edu/mic/](https://med.virginia.edu/mic/)) at the University of Virginia (*UVA*) School of Medicine in Charlottesville, Virginia, seeks outstanding applicants in the field of *Neuro-Oncology / CNS Malignancies Research* at the level of *Assistant, Associate or Full Professor (all tenure-eligible)*.
Qualified applicants focusing on *any* *area of Neuro-Oncology / CNS Malignancies Research* including but not limited to cancer immunology, cancer signaling, cancer genomics and epigenetics, RNA science and Medicine, cancer metabolism, cancer neuroscience, computational biology, and cancer therapeutics are encouraged to apply.
We are seeking an extraordinary colleague who takes an integrated, cross-disciplinary approach to their research and who would leverage the wide-reaching and complementary expertise of our faculty.
Our highly collaborative faculty perform cutting-edge research in the following fields: *Cancer Biology* (cellular, molecular, and genetic basis of cancer initiation, progression, metastasis, and therapy), *Immunology* (development and function of an intact immune system; dysregulation of the immune system in pathogenesis and disease; targets for new immunotherapeutics and vaccines), and *Microbiology* (fundamental biology of bacteria, viruses, and eukaryotic pathogens; host-microbe interactions; targets for vaccines and therapeutics against microbial pathogens).
The successful candidate will join an exciting, well-funded, and highly collegial research environment in the Department and throughout the University, with outstanding opportunities for collaborative research in basic, translational, clinical and population sciences.
The successful candidate will receive a generous start-up and compensation package, and will be expected to maintain an independent, productive, innovative, and extramurally funded research program, and to participate in the teaching mission of the Department.
Faculty in the Department of MIC are highly committed to mentoring early-career faculty and trainees.
The candidate will benefit from close interactions with the UVA *NCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center*, and the clinical *Division of Neuro-Oncology*.
The candidate will have access to outstanding graduate students who are supported by numerous NIH T32 Training Grant awards, and institutional grants.
