Position Announcement


The Department of Experiential Engineering Education (ExEEd) of the Henry M.

Rowan College of Engineering at Rowan University invites applications for tenure-track or tenured faculty position(s) at the assistant, associate, or full professor level.

Senior level candidates with exceptional achievements and demonstrated impact will have the opportunity to be considered for the Henry M.

Rowan College of Engineering Foundation Professorship.

Essential Responsibilities


Develop and maintain an active, externally funded research program in the field of engineering education


Engage in high-quality, evidence-based instruction in introductory undergraduate engineering courses (e.g., First-year and Sophomore Engineering


Clinics) and graduate level courses in engineering education (e.g., Research Design in Engineering Education)


Mentor Ph.D. students


Develop innovative interdisciplinary projects, pedagogies, and new graduate electives


Engage in service activities within the department, college, university, and professional organizations


Contribute to a collaborative, interdisciplinary research community


Foster a collegial and inclusive learning and working environment

Required Qualifications


A Ph.D. in Engineering Education, Engineering, or an equivalent field.

Ph.D. must be conferred before appointment.


A B.S. or M.S. degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent field


Experience with engineering education research and a record of scholarly achievement in engineering education


A commitment to working with students from diverse backgrounds including women, students of color, LGBTQ students, first‐generation to college


students, students with disabilities, students with low socioeconomic status, and veterans.


Candidates for Associate or Full Professor must have a track record of scholarly publications related to engineering education (including but not limited to


peer reviewed journals and conference proceedings), a sustained externally funded research program, and substantial teaching experience.

Desired Qualifications


A strong background in quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods education research


Experience teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level


Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively on research projects

A national leader in engineering education, the Henry M.

Rowan College of Engineering (COE) was founded in 1995 and quickly gained national recognition for its innovative multidisciplinary, project-based approach to engineering education.

Since 2017 Rowan Engineering has experienced extraordinary growth and momentum, doubling both its full-time faculty and student population, launching engineering PhD programs, and quadrupling research expenditures.

In 2017, we opened the doors of Engineering Hall and completed a full renovation of our original home, Rowan Hall.

These projects tripled our available space and provided the College with state-of-the-art research and teaching facilities.

We currently enroll over 1,500 undergraduate and over 250 graduate students in six departments and are home to four research centers.


ExEEd was launched as a new Department in 2016 to cultivate a collaborative environment for engineering education research, implement educational innovations in the classroom, and lead the College’s undergraduate engineering educational mission in the first and second years.

ExEEd also oversees the Henry M.

Rowan College of Engineering B.S. in Engineering Entrepreneurship, a novel undergraduate degree program that blends engineering with business skills.

The department is currently focusing on continued expansion of our rapidly growing engineering education PhD program while maintaining our strong tradition of innovative undergraduate education.
