**Compensation:**
The wage range listed represents the potential compensation opportunities for this position.
Starting salary will be thoughtfully determined by the hiring manager based on a variety of factors including candidate experience, education, relevant skills, and qualifications brought to the role.

**Where you’ll work:**
This fully remote opportunity allows you the flexibility to work from home in support of Epsilon’s USDA DISC Customer.
**Our Customer’s Mission** :
The USDA Digital Infrastructure Services Center (DISC) operates 24/7/365 to provide comprehensive on premises and cloud-based hosting services, including Disaster Recovery, security, and professional support services and operations to approximately 35 federal organizations.
The USDA and other Federal partners depend upon DISC’s highly complex and interconnected technology infrastructure to conduct their operations.
To better support this mission, DISC is modernizing their technology by transitioning to a continuous integration, deployment, and code-based organization.
**An average day:**
As Operating Systems Services | Linux OS Engineer III (Azure), you will manage and oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Linux servers and associated hardware/software components within the data center.
This role continuously monitors system performance, identifying bottlenecks, and optimizing system resources to ensure smooth operations and efficient functioning.
The Engineer will respond to system alerts, diagnosing issues, and swiftly resolving technical problems to minimize downtime and maintain high availability of services.
This position will employ scripting to automate routine tasks, streamline processes, and enhance system efficiency.
The Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams, documenting system configurations, procedures, and best practices to ensure knowledge sharing and adherence to standard operating protocols within the data center environment.
In this position you will:
+ Engineer and administer all aspects of RHEL 7, 8, and 9 servers, including upgrading, patching, troubleshooting, resolving, designing, communicating, analyzing system logs, managing network configurations, storage volumes and configurations, hardening systems to DISA STIG regulatory standard, remediating vulnerabilities, configuration management, and system monitoring.
+ Support Linux server environments in Microsoft Azure, including Azure Compute, Azure Storage, Azure Identity Management, and Azure networking features, as well as hybrid workloads in Azure VMware Solution (AVS).
+ Provide as-needed technical support of related tooling, like Red Hat Satellite, Ansible Automation Platform, GitLab, and mail relay services.
+ Perform scripting/automation efforts using Ansible, GitLab, or Python to reduce or eliminate administrative toil.
+ Document and perform changes and resolve incidents and problems using the client’s Configuration Management Tools and Systems.
+ Produce knowledge transfer documentation to the client as required.
+ Participate in Agile project management and a DevSecOps culture as required.
+ Provide 24x7x365 support as needed.
**Basic Qualifications:**
+ As a requirement of this position, all candidates must be a U.S. Citizen.

+ Bachelor’s degree in an IT related field or equivalent work experience
+ Minimum 5 years of experience as a Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) engineer, preferred is experience supporting Ansible Automation Platform, and commercial cloud experience in any of the following: AWS, Azure, GCP
+ Ability to manage multiple projects effectively and efficiently with varying deadlines and levels of importance
+ Demonstrates the ability to lead efforts of analysis and resolution of problems or issues; identifies when and how to escalate problems to the appropriate level
+ Experience and comfort with change and ambiguity given the ever-evolving nature of the business
+ Experience collaborating with Technology and Business Teams to deliver data and technology solutions that meet business objectives
+ Must be able to work well in a collaborative team environment, but also independently
+ Strong detail orientation supported by ability to take a structured approach to achieve long-term objectives and build sustainable routines
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7, 8, and 9 operating systems hosted in Azure, Azure VMware Solution (AVS), and other commercial cloud providers.
+ Azure Compute, Azure Identity Management, Azure Storage, and Azure networking features.
+ Ansible, GitLab, Python.
+ Red Hat Satellite, mail relay.
+ Remedy, ServiceNow.
+ Confluence, Jira.
+ _Preferred:_ Familiarity with Azure-native monitoring and security tools (e.g., Azure Monitor, Security Center, Defender for Cloud).
+ _Preferred:_ Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, or Red Hat OpenShift).
**Other Requirements:**
+ Must be able to pass federal background investigation and obtain a Public Trust.
