SF is a mission planning exercise designed to prepare tactical-level space operators and intelligence professionals to execute operations in a realistic contested, degraded, and operationally limited (CDO) environment against a thinking and determined adversary.

This United States Space Force (USSF) sponsored exercise focuses exclusively on the space domain, rather than providing space services to others.

The C2 SME will serve as the SF/AT teams liaison to the CSpOC, NSDC, and other C2 centers, and will support the C2 planning and involvement in SF exercises.

Pay: $148,000 - $165,000

Essential Duties:

  • Coordinate with Space Operations Command (SpOC) HQ, CSpOC, and NSDC and technical experts; SF LNOs; the intelligence community (IC); and exercise planners to aid in the development of CDO scenarios that are realistic based on current and near future adversary capabilities

  • In coordination with the SF exercise planner(s), develop exercise C2 guidance and products that stimulate space crews to develop and use tactics and learn how to react to enemy actions

  • Provide support to SF planning conferences, working groups, training events, etc.

  • Provide exercise control and/or exercise white force support representing operational-level C2 leadership (NSDC/CSpOC Director)

  • Participate in Exercise Control Group during exercise execution to lead C2 representation (NSDC, CSpOC, JOPC, NOC) in presenting a common approach to the training audience in order to keep players focused at the tactical level

  • Coordinate with trusted agents to ensure training objectives can be met given real-world C2 authorities

  • Understand how C2 authorities impact the training audience in a given scenario to keep them focused on their tactical training objectives

  • Ensure commanders guidance and intent and/or other real-world C2 documents are appropriately replicated in training events

  • Provide recommendations, monitor, and track C2 resources required (personnel, funding, and equipment) to support each event

  • Provide inputs to development of C2 modeling and simulation (M&S) capability

  • Capture exercise/AT observations and develop and provide lessons learned (LL) inputs

  • Conduct hot wash debriefs with USSF senior leadership to include: Squadrons, Deltas, CSpOC, NSDC, NOC, and JOPC (if required)

  • Prepare event-related documents (i.e., trip reports, exercise planning/execution products, after-action reports, meeting minutes) in accordance with the contract

  • Be familiar with current and in-development C2 tools and M&S capabilities.

During exercise development and planning, integrate these capabilities into SF

  • Other tasks/duties as required in order to ensure success for SF exercise and AT events.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ten (10) years of operational and technical military experience in planning, developing, coordinating, and executing United States Air Force (USAF) space capabilities in Service, Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), and Combatant Command (CCMD) operations, exercises, demonstrations and/or experiments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current or previous experience (within the last 5 years) working in NSDC and/or CSpOC conducting operational-level planning

  • Previous SPACE FLAG experience a plus.
