Job description

Summary

Spire Storage West is seeking an Operator I to work in the Evanston, Wyoming location.

This position will be responsible for monitoring equipment functioning and coordinate and monitor operation of the company’s gas storage.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitor equipment functioning, observe temperature, level, and flow, perform regular equipment checks to insure all equipment is operating as it should.
  • Control operation of compressors, scrubbers, evaporators, and refrigeration equipment to liquefy, or compress natural gas.
  • Operate natural gas equipment.

    Start up and shut down equipment
  • Control equipment to regulate flow and pressure of gas to feedlines of boilers, heaters, and related steam-generating and heating equipment.
  • Record, review, and compile operations records, test results, and gauge readings such as temperatures, pressures, flow rates, and concentrations.
  • Adjust temperature, pressure, vacuum, level, flow rate, and/or transfer of gas to maintain processes at required levels or to correct problems.
  • Review log sheets to optimize efficiency and detect malfunctions.
  • Requires work on all shifts as sole person responsible for entire 
  • Responsible for adjusting supplies through use of remote-control regulators and valves as needed to maintain sufficient system pressures and flow
  • Responsible for monitoring, analyzing and responding to SCADA system alarms, DCS system and the recognition of unusual conditions that do not generate alarms while notifying appropriate responding personnel
  • Coordinate and monitor operation of the company’s gas storage 
  • All other duties as assigned
  • Essential Characteristics and Competencies


    Supervisory Responsibilities

  • No
  • Required Education (certifications, licenses)

  • High School Diploma or GED required 
  • 0-4 years’ experience in Gas Storage/Energy Industry preferred
  • Required knowledge, skill and abilities

  • Ability to safely lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions 
  • Be compliant with all OSHA, DOT, FERC regulations, state, and federal regulations
  • Abide by all industry and plant safety policies.
  • Physical demands, environment and schedule

  • Work is performed in an office/ plant environment outdoors and in all weather conditions
  • After 4-month training required year-round rotating shift work schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

    Works primarily 12 hour rotating shifts, consisting of day and night shifts.

  • Occasional over-time and on-call work.
