Position Summary: The Oracle Database Administrator (Oracle DBA) is responsible for developing, maintaining, and securing corporate Oracle databases to ensure data integrity, availability, and recoverability.
The DBA will design and implement database strategies, manage enterprise-wide data architecture, optimize performance, and support critical business systems.
This role requires expertise in Oracle database solutions, high availability architecture, and proactive issue resolution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and implement Oracle patch releases while ensuring seamless deployment.
- Oversee change management across multiple development, test, QA, and production environments.
- Provide 24x7 rotational on-call support, conduct root cause analysis (RCA), and participate in weekly operations reviews.
- Implement proactive monitoring and troubleshooting of database-related issues.
- Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, and PL/SQL debugging.
- Support enterprise system enhancements and collaborate with project teams on database solutions.
- Deploy and manage high availability architectures, including Data Guard, RAC, and hot standby databases.
- Maintain database security, retention policies, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Document database architecture, configurations, and operational procedures.
- Support nightly ETL processing and ensure efficient data flow.
- Conduct capacity planning, resource allocation reviews, and provide regular reports.
- Ensure compliance with corporate security policies and regulatory requirements (PCI, GLBA, SOX).
- Participate in database design decisions, troubleshooting, and optimization processes.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical discipline.
- 8+ years of experience as an Oracle DBA (10g, 11g, 12c).
- Proficiency in RMAN, Data Guard, OEM/Grid Control.
- Strong PL/SQL, SQL tuning, and Unix/Linux shell scripting skills.
- Experience in backup, recovery, and performance tuning.
- Expertise in high availability (RAC, standby databases) & disaster recovery.
- Ability to support a 24x7 on-call rotation.
- Knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) certification.
- Experience with Oracle Streams or database replication.
- Familiarity with Oracle RAC environments, ASM, and encryption/security protocols.
- Knowledge of data modeling tools (Oracle Data Modeler, Erwin, Toad, Visio).
- Experience with .NET application support.
