The Outreach and Response Coordinator will serve as the primary point of contact in the University’s Office of Institutional Equity (OIE) for those impacted by and implicated in reported discriminatory conduct or harassment.

The Outreach and Response Coordinator will be responsible for the initial review and assessment of reported concerns; providing information about available support, resources, and options; and conducting intake interviews with potential complainants to determine appropriate jurisdiction and explain available accountability processes.

The Outreach and Response Coordinator will also review and implement requests for supportive measures, provide case status updates, and coordinate communications among the parties and their advisors, assigned investigator, the hearing officer, the Title IX coordinator, and relevant administrators.

Duties & Responsibilities

Case Management:

  • Receive, review, and initially assess reported concerns to confirm OIE's jurisdiction and determine next steps.
  • Facilitate and conduct intake meetings with individuals who have reported discrimination or harassment concerns to determine and explain applicable accountability processes and procedures and address requests for supportive measures or other resources.

  • Implement, document, and monitor supportive measures and other requests for support or assistance.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate and detailed records of all interactions and actions taken in response to a report in OIE's case management system.
  • Prepare an individualized assessment for each report to reflect and facilitate the transfer of a concern to an investigator for the initiation of an accountability process.
  • Conduct and document internal assessments under the University's Nondiscrimination and Anti-harassment Policy, Title VI, and Title IX in the absence of a known or participatory complainant and make recommendations regarding further OIE involvement when appropriate.

  • Outreach and Support:

  • Initiate and track outreach to individuals impacted by discrimination and harassment concerns, including but not limited to sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, relationship violence, or stalking.
  • Follow up with individuals as needed to ensure they receive and understand the information provided about their rights, options, available support and resources, and/or provide referrals to other departments when appropriate.
  • Provide timely updates about the process and coordinate communications among the parties and their advisors, assigned investigator, the hearing officer, the Title IX coordinator, and relevant administrators.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information in a professional, supportive manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with different groups and individuals.
  • Ability to synthesize and summarize information clearly and efficiently.

  • Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Higher education employment experience.

  • Experience applying federal and state civil rights laws and related institutional policies, procedures, and resources.

  • Experience with Advocate case management software.

  • 2 years of legal and/or compliance work experience.
