Part Time Assessment Center Assistant
Hourly Rate: $19.05
This position is an on-campus, part-time, up-to 19-hour appointment based in Champaign, Illinois.

The
Assessment Center Assistant is responsible for coordinating the operations of a
high-volume educational testing unit.
This includes greeting visitors and
callers; managing check-in and check-out of examinees; proctoring a wide
variety of assessments, including paper, computer, and internet-based
examinations; maintaining detailed records in accordance with federal, state,
and campus regulations; performing data entry; and providing administrative and
clerical support to the Director.
The Assessment Center Assistant appointment is on a schedule established by the
Assessment Center Director.
Internal and
external events occasionally necessitate an altered work schedule.
The Assistant must be able to work
effectively with the public in a high-volume environment with minimal
supervision, frequent interruptions, and simultaneous tasks.
The position
involves access to and daily handling of confidential records and information.

Essential
Job Functions:
Administer and proctor exams; generate score reports and record test results.
Become certified as a High Stakes Testing Proctor for companies such as Pearson VUE PSI, Castle, etc.
Preserve and maintain current and historical examinee test records.
Handle inquiries (walk-in, phone, email) to the Assessment Center and schedule testing appointments.
Determine which exams an individual is qualified to take.
Provide appropriate guidance in regard to timely and efficient completion of all requirements including deadline dates that would affect entry into a student’s desired program.
Provide information to applicants about the College and its courses and programs.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with Assessment Center equipment and escalate to Campus Technologies if needed.
Maintain appropriate inventory levels to sustain operations.
Train and coordinate student and hourly workers.
Other duties as assigned.Minimum Requirements:
Associate degree or three (3) years’ equivalent work experience in testing, higher education, or an office setting or an equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
Must be at least 21 years old.
Be a US citizen or Permanent US legal resident alien.
Pass a 5-year federal background check.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Effectively communicate with a diverse clientele, including individuals with English as a second language.
Work quickly and accurately under pressure and effectively deal with a wide variety of situations, some potentially stressful.
Ability to interact professionally and competently with other Parkland staff, other universities’ staff, state certification boards, and national testing services to ensure a high-quality testing program.
Ability to manage a computer lab and troubleshoot common technical problems.
Functional capacity in the Microsoft Office Suite programs, with the ability to learn the Parkland information system, computerized testing system, and new programs as technology changes.
Strong organizational skills with the capability to multitask.
Written and verbal English skills and mathematical abilities sufficient to perform the functions of the position.
In an effort to comply with SURS return-to-work
restrictions for employers (40 ILCS 5/15-139.5), candidates for employment at
Parkland College must either not be a SURS annuitant or must be willing to
suspend his/her SURS annuity upon employment.
This applies to all SURS annuitants except those receiving their annuity
under either the Self-Managed Plan (SMP) or by lump sum payment. Sponsorship for work authorization is not available for this position.
