Part-Time Faculty for SOM/, The Business of Entertainment, Winter : 5-Day Los Angeles Immersion Course, January 5-9, , In Person

Course description: This immersive Los Angeles-based course combines company and studio visits with faculty-led discussions to examine the economic, managerial, and operational dimensions of film, television, music, and digital media.

Students will explore the interconnected roles of finance, marketing, supply chain, real estate, and management while critically assessing how AI and emerging technologies are reshaping entertainment creation, distribution, and sustainability.

Qualifications
  • Graduate Degree Preferred.


  • Work experience in the Entertainment Industry.
  • Job Specific Qualifications
  • Experience in teaching at the university-level is preferred.


  • Strong communication skills required.


  • Have an understanding and appreciation for the role of business within the entertainment industry.


  • Must be available and willing to teach in Los Angeles, CA.

  • Must be available during existing course times from January 5-9, .
  • Responsibilities
  • Preparation of course materials and assignments in collaboration with Whitman Dean’s Office.

  • Coordinate on-site visits and/or guest speakers.

  • Distribute any pre-work to students prior to intensive week.

  • Meet all designated class sessions during the intensive period.

  • Present instruction based on course competencies and student performance level.

  • Maintain accessibility (office hours) for student consultation throughout the intensive week.

  • Grade assignments and provide timely feedback aligned with compressed schedule.

  • Submit final grades according to university regulations and Whitman policies.

  • Administer departmentally sanctioned student evaluation forms.

  • Build positive rapport with students and faculty.

  • Other responsibilities as indicated.
