Job Description Summary

The budgeted salary for this position is typically $1,000 per credit hour.

This position is ineligible for health, dental, and life insurance benefits through Chicago State University.


Chicago State University (CSU), is the oldest public university in the Chicago metropolitan area.

Chicago State University is Illinois’ only four-year U.S. Department of Education-designated Predominantly Black Institution (PBI).

CSU serves over 1,500 undergraduate students and nearly 900 graduate students.

The university is a nationally accredited university with five colleges in Arts and Sciences, Business, Education, Health Sciences and Pharmacy and proudly supports a diverse and non-traditional student population that hails from 28 countries and 36 states.

The Chemistry and Physics Department invites applications for a part-time, non-tenure track lecturer in physical science.

Primary duties include teaching 1 or 2 physical science classes during the 4.5 month semester.

Specific areas for which a lecturer is needed include chemistry, physics, earth science, astronomy, meteorology, and oceanography.

Faculty members are expected to teach; develop syllabi and teaching materials related to courses taught, and hold regular office hours.

Faculty are hired, evaluated, and retained on the basis of conditions covered in the union contract.

Required Education A Master’s degree or Doctorate degree from an accredited institution in any area related to Physical Science.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Teaching experience is preferred.
