Faculty Employment Opportunity

POSITION:

PART-TIME LECTURERS IN CHEMISTRY: The Department of Chemistry invites
applications for a pool of part-time teaching appointments.

Candidates selected will teach one or some combination of chemistry courses that primarily include general education lectures, General Chemistry discussion and lab sections, and chemistry service courses for other disciplines as appropriate.

The position is contingent upon the availability of authorized funding.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

or equivalent advanced degree in chemistry is preferred.

Prior successful teaching experience at the college level preferred.

COMPENSATION:

Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

As a member of the 23-campus CSU System, we offer an extremely competitive benefits package.


Newly hired lecturers with terminal degrees are placed in Range 3 of the salary schedule and others are normally placed in Range 2.

Starting salaries are usually at or near the minimum of the range.

The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated in the schedules are prorated based on the number of units assigned and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester.

The Chemistry Department, a member of the College of Science, is part of an intellectual community dedicated to providing students and faculty with the scientific, mathematical, health and human service, and technological capacity to contribute to their disciplines and succeed in their career and academic pursuits.

CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CLEARANCE NOTICE

The university requires a criminal and/or child abuse background check to be completed for many of its new employees, current employees seeking promotional or transfer opportunities, and current employees assigned new duties.

Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment.

CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information.

Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Failure to consent to any background check will disqualify an applicant from further consideration.
