    JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

    Penn State Abington seeks to hire part-time Youth Program instructors for grades 3- from June 6 through August 6.

    Topics to be taught include STEM programming, arts, writing, leadership and soft skills, wellness, and others.

    Job Duties

  • Instructors are responsible for assisting with creating and implementing program curriculum and lessons, managing supplies, and the supervision of minors participating in programs.

  • Instructors must work collaboratively with the Youth Program Director, Student counselors, and Continuing Education staff to create an inviting, enjoyable and educational environment for students.

  • Attend team meetings as expected by Youth Program Director.

  • Requirements and Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills are required.

  • Must be outgoing, work well with children, have strong customer service skills, and be a self-starter.

  • For most openings, an advanced degree in an appropriate discipline, from an accredited institution, is required.

  • Prior teaching experience is strongly preferred.

  • Summer instructors are needed for daytime in-person programming from Monday through Thursday June through August 5, 8: a.m. to 4: p.m.

    Additionally, are required to attend a one-day, in-person staff orientation at Penn State Abington, scheduled between June th and June th, prior to the start of the camp sessions.

    Should there be any conflicts during this time frame, we can address them further during the interview.

  • To be considered for this opening, applicants must apply online and submit a resume including any teaching experience, and cover letter stating the types of programs that you interested in teaching.

  • Instructors will be required to attend a mandatory staff orientation prior to the camp season.

  • Scope of youth programs are dependent on course content and vary in length.

    Multiple vacancies are available for various programs.

    Employment is also contingent upon adequate student enrollment in the Youth Programs.

    BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

    This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.

    CAMPUS SECURITY CRIME STATISTICS

    Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 8, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR).

    The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.
