The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek a comprehensive optometrist with a strong interest and expertise in dry eye care to join the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences.
Academic rank and track commensurate with academic record and experience.
Position Overview
The Havener Eye Institute at The Ohio State University is seeking a full-time Comprehensive Optometrist with a strong interest and expertise in dry eye care to join our growing clinical practice.
This position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative academic environment focused on excellence in patient care, education, and innovation.
Key responsibilities of the Comprehensive Optometrist will include providing comprehensive eye care for adult patients, including annual exams, ocular disease management, refractions, and same-day emergency care, as well as focusing on diagnosing and treating dry eye disease using advanced therapies.
Additionally, the Comprehensive Optometrist will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to enhance dry eye services.
Lastly, there is no contact lens care required for this position.

The Havener Eye Institute has its primary location in the Eye and Ear Institute building near campus.
We have newly constructed state-of-the art facilities that include on-site outpatient surgical centers.
We strive to provide our patients with the highest quality of care with the latest surgical equipment and instrumentation.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Division Director and/or Department Chair is responsible for determining the work assignments.
Each faculty member is expected to perform the full range of responsibilities in the areas of teaching, research/scholarship, and service.
Clinical services are a component of your faculty responsibility, with or without the presence of a trainee.
It is expected that the academic mission of the Department would be supported.
In consultation with the Department Chair, there will be an opportunity to pursue research, quality improvement initiatives, curriculum development, and education initiatives, or other activities consistent with the faculty assignment.
Faculty members are expected to teach, which may include clinical or didactic teaching and may involve medical students, residents, fellows, undergraduate and graduate students, and post-doctoral fellows.
Service commitments will include service at the OSUWMC facilities and other clinical sites as assigned.
Active participation in divisional, departmental, and college committee functions is expected.
Participation in local, regional, or national professional organizations is also expected.

Clinical faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with titles of assistant professor-clinical, associate professor-clinical and professor-clinical.
These faculty will have earned a Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), doctorate (PhD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field.
Clinical faculty members are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of three to five years.
They may be reappointed to successive terms.
Their principal career focus is the delivery of exemplary clinical care, and may include teaching, and/or research.
Tenure-Track faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with the titles of assistant professor, associate professor, or professor who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure.
These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD), Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study.
Their primary career focus centers on research, service, and teaching.
Tenure-track faculty with MD, DO or MD/PhD degrees may also be involved in clinical care.
Research Faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with the titles of research assistant professor, research associate professor, or research professor.
These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study.
Research faculty members are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of one to five years.
Their principal career focus is research.
