As the Platform Architect for Palmer-Donavin, you will play a critical role in the strategic success of the company by designing, developing, and maintaining the technology platforms that serve as the foundation for various products and services.

Your responsibilities go beyond technical expertise.

To be effective, you need to understand business goals, user needs, emerging technologies, and market trends to create a platform that aligns with the company’s strategic objectives.

You will also be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing software releases within the organization.

Effective processes include risk management, quality assurance, communication and training, and version control documentation to ensure an effective rollout.

  • Responsibilities

  • Analyze historical usage data and growth trends to forecast resource requirements.

    Plan for necessary resource scaling and provisioning to accommodate future needs.
  • Work directly with the CIO on the development and implementation of Palmer-Doanvin’s Cloud strategy, directly in SaaS or indirectly with our outsourcing partners.
  • Ensure the platform can handle our anticipated growth by implementing load balancing, caching, and horizontal scaling strategies.

    Continuously monitor system performance and optimize code and database queries for efficiency.
  • Develop change control procedures and assess the impact of changes on the platform.

    Procedures will include a comprehensive communication plan to ensure everyone is properly notified in advance of changes being made.
  • Determine appropriate KPIs to track the adoption, usage, and sentiment of our Cloud applications and deliver useful reports to stakeholders.
  • Monitor and optimize platform costs by using available cost management tools like Azure Cost Management to track expenses.

    Implement resource tagging and cost allocation and rightsize resources based on actual usage.
  • Hold all vendors accountable to SLAs and KPIs. Address any deficiencies through reduced contract payments or enhanced service levels as allowed for in the contract.
  • Evaluate vendors on cost and service level and make changes as necessary.
  • Manage platform related expenses by working with accounting to create and manage effective budgets, allocate resources based on project priorities and organizational goals.

  • Qualifications

    The ideal candidate will have a combination of strong technical background, people management skills, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

    Preferred Candidate Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience as a Platform Release Lead or in a similar role, with a track record of successful software releases for a SaaS Product
  • Understanding of application and system architecture concepts including service-oriented architecture (SOA)
  • Understanding of Cloud computing services including Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)
  • Proficiency with version control systems, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) tools, and release automation
  • Strong understanding of software development life-cycle (SDLC) methodologies, including Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall
  • Thorough understanding of server, database, storage and network infrastructure concepts and technologies
  • Experience working cross-functionally with geographically dispersed teams
  • Nice-To-Have Qualifications:

  • Experience with Azure or other cloud platforms, shell, or other scripting language
  • Knowledge of custom built and consumer off-the-shelf packaged applications
  • Familiarity with operational intelligence use cases
