Job description

OVERVIEW:

The Posner Center for International Development is looking for a dynamic and strategic Communications & Community Manager.

This part-time, contract role is essential for enhancing our visibility, strengthening our brand, and fostering tenant engagement.

The manager will handle both external and internal communications to effectively share our mission and the achievements of our tenant organizations with stakeholders, partners, and the wider community.

The Communications Manager is required to work in-person at the Posner Center, including occasional evening and weekend work for events.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES

Active Communication: Maintain active, positive, and clear communication with everyone in the Posner Community, including tenants, members, staff, and visitors.

Mission Support: Expand the visibility of the Posner Center, facilitate collaboration among members, and amplify the overall voice of the community.
Community Management: Ensure safe, effective, and efficient community management, acting as a concierge to support tenants' and members' needs during business hours.

Requirements

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES 

Communications and Brand Management 50%

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive internal and external communications strategy, work plan, and set up systems to support achieving the Posner Center’s goals and objectives, such as enhancing the Posner Center’s brand and reputation within the international development sector.
  • Create and manage branding materials, ensuring consistency across all communications platforms.
  • Manage all public relations initiatives, including media outreach and press releases.
  • Oversee social media presence, leveraging trends to increase engagement and awareness.
  • Collaborate with tenants to highlight their work and achievements
  • Assist with communications campaigns for specific Posner Center programs, including an annual Posner Center Symposium
  • Manage office phone, voicemail, and mailroom daily when the Communications & Community Manager is in the office in support of the Posner Building Director.
  • Track and report on communication metrics to guide future strategy and improvements, including gathering feedback from tenants and stakeholders.

Content Creation 35%

  • Produce high-quality written and visual content, including blogs, newsletters, photos, and videos, that reflect the missions and stories of the Posner Center and its tenants.

    This involves interviewing members for stories and pulling relevant content from their various online channels.
  • Manage the creation and distribution of content across various platforms, including the Posner Center's website, social media, and internal community groups, as well as promotional materials and external event postings.
  • Promote events by creating and distributing content, including flyers, targeted outreach emails, and a printed calendar for the building.

Community & Tenant Engagement 15%

  • Foster strong relationships with tenant organizations through regular communication, serving as the primary community concierge and first point of contact.
  • Support members to organize tenant meetings, workshops, and networking events to enhance community engagement and collaboration.
  • Oversee website updates, including the event calendar, announcements and tenant information, using WordPress.
  • Enhance the building's welcoming environment by greeting visitors and guests as needed and managing the digital receptionist (e.g., Greetly)
  • Serve as concierge of the front desk when working in the building.

    Answering questions of tenants/members/visitors and ensuring all who enter Posner feel welcomed and comfortable in our community. 
  • Work closely with the Building Director to ensure safe, efficient, and effective operations of the Posner Center building.

    Support with vendor communications and building maintenance as needed and assigned. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in communications, with a focus on public relations and brand management.
  • Demonstrated ability to create effective communications strategies and campaigns.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms and content management systems (e.g. Wordpress).
  • Experience working in the non-profit sector or international development is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Benefits

Remuneration: This is a contract position that pays $25-35/hr, depending on experience, with an expected weekly commitment of 16-24 hours.

This position is based at the Posner Center in Denver.
