The general goals are to determine emissions, transport rates and mechanisms, loss rates and mechanisms, ozone depletion, and radiative forcing by these gases at sub-national to global levels.

The work will apply state-of-the-art three-dimensional atmospheric chemistry and circulation models, together with advanced statistical techniques (optimal Bayesian, Markov Chain-MonteCarlo, etc.) to solve the forward and inverse problems involved.
