This role is based in Raleigh, NC.**

**Program Overview:**

The Power Protection and Automation Engineering Development Program (PA EDP) positions you as an integral member of Siemens Industry, Inc.’s Smart Infrastructure – Electrification & Automation (E&A) team.

This one-year development program focused on Power Protection and Automation in electrical substations features a structured learning pathway with two specialized tracks: Protection and Automation.

Throughout the program, you’ll be part of a company that values responsible engineering and innovative solutions, working on projects with some of the largest companies worldwide.

These include utilities modernizing their grids with digital substations leveraging IEC 61850 communication protocols, advanced protection and automation systems, rapidly expanding data centers, electric vehicle manufacturing plants, and solar-integrated microgrids.

**Role Description:**

+ Each six-month rotation begins with two months of structured classroom training at the Wendell, NC office, guided by Siemens Power Academy trainers, followed by four months of hands-on experience through travel across the U.S. where participants shadow mentors on real-world substation projects.
+ During each rotation, participants will specialize in a specific track:

+ Protection: Focus on safeguarding electrical substations by designing and implementing protection systems using protective relays that protect power equipment such as transformers, motors, and substations overall.
+ Automation: Focus on controlling and communicating with RTUs, HMIs, relays, and other devices inside switchgears within substations, to ensure smooth operation and reliable data exchange.

+ At the close of the program, participants will choose one of the specialized tracks as a focus and join the Solutions Engineering team, where they will continue learning from mentors and begin mentoring new EDP cohorts.
+ Learn through comprehensive training, hands-on experience, and mentorship.
+ Design and implement innovative power protection and automation solutions.
+ Test, commission and troubleshoot projects with the support of your mentor.

**You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:**

+ Passionate about innovation and problem-solving.
+ Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.
+ Ability to start full-time employment beginning in June 2026 with Cohort 5.
+ Participants should be willing to travel up to 75% during the learning rotations, with approximately four months of travel expected within each six-month rotation.

+ Applicants must be willing and able to relocate to Raleigh, NC.

Assistance is provided to hires who must relocate more than 50 miles from their permanent address.
+ Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.

**You can expect to:**

+ Be part of an exclusive, high-impact development program focused on deep engineering expertise, with only 15 engineers selected for the June 2026 Cohort.

You’ll dive into real-world electrical substation, protection systems, and automation technologies, gaining hands-on experience that builds true technical mastery.
+ Enjoy a $5,000 sign-on bonus and a $10,000 program completion bonus.
+ Thrive in a collaborative and diverse work culture that encourages creativity while receiving mentorship from seasoned professionals.
