LOCATION: Nursing Dept.

Full Time-Day Shift: 5:30AM – 6PMTeams:A or B Part Time Day & Night Shift: Flexible

Full Time-Night Shift: 5:30PM – 6AMTeams:A or B Alternative Shifts are Available

Salary - Depends on Qualifications

This position has a Special Entrance Rate:

Practical Nurse –Licensed 1 $19.48hr.

- $25.44hr.



Practical Nurse –Licensed 2 $20.84hr.

- $27.22hr.

Practical Nurse –Licensed 3 $22.30 hr.

- $29.13hr.



This position receives premium pay of $ 10.00 per hour.

This position also receives Shift Differential, Longevity Pay, and Additional pay options.



This position may be filled byDetail to Special Duty, Probation, Promotion, Demotion, or Lateral Transfer.

Preference may be given to permanent classified employees of Pinecrest Supports and Services Center.


THIS JOB IS IN A CAREER PROGRESSION GROUP AND MAY BE FILLED AT A HIGHER LEVEL.

The maximum salary for thePractical Nurse –Licensed 2 $53,414.

Minimum Qualifications


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Possession of a current Louisiana Practical Nurse license, a temporary permit, or a multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state.




Job Specification

Function of Work:
To provide basic nursing care to patients/clients in stable conditions and in predictable situations in accordance with the Professional Nurses Practice Act.

Level of Work:
Entry.

Supervision Received:
Close from a Registered Nurse or Practical Nurse of a higher level.

Supervision Exercised:
May exercise functional supervision over paraprofessional nursing personnel.

Location of Work:
Statewide--health care facilities; correctional facilities.

Job Distinctions:
Differs from Practical Nurse--Licensed, 2 by the absence of journeyman level assignments and independent performance of duties.

Job Duties and Other Information

Implements selective aspects of the nursing care plan, i.e., comfort, hygiene, safety measures, nutrition, etc.

under progressively more generalized supervision from a Registered Nurse or Practical Nurse of a higher level.

Observes patients for changes in physical and/or mental status or behavior and reports significant changes.

Obtains specimens for laboratory testing as assigned.

Takes vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.

Administers medication and treatments in accordance with policies and procedures.

Transcribes physicians' orders and records medication and patient's condition on patient's charts and other records.

Receives and gives change of shift reports.

Requests stock drugs, medications, and supplies as assigned.

Administers CPR in emergency situations.

Admits, transfers, and discharges patients.

Gathers information about patient's past and current physical and mental status.

May administer oral and parenteral medication as prescribed by the physician and documents procedure.

Applies dressings, ointments, and other treatments as ordered and documents procedure.

Assists physicians with routine examinations and treatments.

Bathes, feeds, and makes patients comfortable.

Performs individual and group health teaching as assigned.
