As a Principal Designer on the Learner UX team, you'll be a senior individual contributor focused on shaping the future of Udemy's learner experience across mobile and web.

You'll elevate craft standards across the design org by producing best-in-class design work that inspires your peers, influences leaders, and delights our learners.

  • Explore and prototype AI-powered experiences that personalize learning paths, simplify workflows, and unlock new creative possibilities.

  • Raise the visual design bar for the team, ensuring our UI is not only functional but distinctive and competitive.

  • Serve as a hands-on thought leader, shaping design critiques, mentoring peers, and elevating the craft culture across Udemy's global design org.

  • Collaborate deeply with product and engineering partners, ensuring your designs are feasible, performant, and implemented with fidelity.

  • Influence design direction at a strategic level through storytelling and prototypes, without managing direct reports.

What You Bring

  • Expertise in motion and animation, with proven ability to make products feel alive, fluid, and intuitive.

  • Strong visual sensibility: typography, hierarchy, color, and layout at a pixel-perfect level.

  • Fluency with modern design and prototyping tools, including experience with AI-assisted design workflows.

  • Ability to inspire peers and influence executives through the strength of your design craft and storytelling.

  • Experience contributing to or extending design systems, ensuring consistency while pushing innovation.

  • A passion for lifelong learning and a desire to make education more accessible, engaging, and transformative worldwide.

What Success Looks Like in 12 Months

  • You've shipped flagship learner features that are celebrated internally and externally for their clarity, craft, and competitive edge.

  • Your work has set new standards for motion and visual design at Udemy, with patterns and examples that other designers emulate.

  • You've delivered AI-powered prototypes that shaped the roadmap for personalized and next-generation learning experiences.

  • You're recognized across PDE (Product, Design, Engineering) as a trusted partner who drives impact through design excellence.

  • Within the design org, you're known as a go-to thought leader for craft, mentoring peers and influencing how design is practiced across teams.

  • Udemy is more visible in the global design community because of your work, talks, or thought leadership contributions.

Why Join Us

At Udemy, you'll join a global design organization led by designers with experience at Disney, Amazon, Autodesk, Apple, and Hulu, committed to building world-class design at scale.

Here, you'll:

  • Shape the learning experiences of 70M+ learners and 16,000+ organizations worldwide.

  • Explore AI, motion, and next-generation UX patterns to create the most competitive and modern education platform on the market.

  • Work as a maker and design ambassador, doing the most impactful, visible work of your career.
