Job description

The Azure Experiences & Ecosystems product organization is committed to delivering best in class products to empower customers to build and grow their solutions on Azure.

The Azure Growth and Modern Foundations team is looking for a results-driven Principal Product Manager–Platform to drive the evolution of the developer platform for the hundreds of Microsoft teams who power their product experiences in Azure Portal.

You will own the vision, roadmap, and execution of our software development kits (SDKs), application programming interfaces (APIs), and developer enablement tools to empower internal engineering teams to build best-in-class user experiences in the Azure Portal web application.

You will partner cross-functionally with engineering, design, documentation, data, product, and internal development teams to make building great cloud experiences faster, easier, and more scalable—for every Azure team at Microsoft—while ultimately creating user experiences end users love.

This position is 100% remote.

Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more.

As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals.

Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.

**Responsibilities**

+ Productize platform capabilities: Turn infrastructure components into reusable, documented, and discoverable building blocks.

Internal users should feel like they’re using a polished developer product.
+ Drive adoption of internal APIs and SDKs: Work with engineers to create common libraries, wrappers, and templates that accelerate product development.
+ Improve developer workflows: Identify friction points in the development lifecycle and build tools to address pain (e.g., test environments, deploy tooling, secrets management, schema evolution, scaffolding).
+ Lead with empathy for engineers: Conduct user interviews, surveys, and shadowing to deeply understand internal needs and workflows.
+ Establish a strong feedback loop with engineering teams and promote adoption of platform standards through documentation, tooling, and support.
+ Define success metrics: Track internal developer satisfaction, platform adoption, and support burden reduction.

**Qualifications**

**Required Qualifications:**

+ OR equivalent experience.

+ 8+ years experience in product management, with at least 4+ years in platform, infrastructure, or dev tools and a depth of understanding of APIs (REST/GraphQL), SDK design (e.g., JavaScript, Python, Swift, etc.), and developer ecosystems.
+ 4+ years of solid understanding of user experience frameworks and best practices, and frontend libraries like React.js.

Proven experience launching and scaling platform features, integrations, or developer tools.
+ 1+ year(s) technical aptitude with the ability to read API docs, discuss trade-offs with engineers, and understand architecture diagrams.

Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, especially across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
+ 1+ year(s) familiarity with continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, authentication standards (OAuth2, JSON Web Token (JWT)), and third-party integrations is a bonus.

**Other Qualifications:**

+ Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.

These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

+ Bachelor's Degree AND 12+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development OR equivalent experience.
+ 4+ years experience taking a product, feature, or experience to market (e.g., design, addressing product market fit, and launch, internal tool/framework).
+ 6+ years experience improving product metrics for a product, feature, or experience in a market (e.g., growing customer base, expanding customer usage, avoiding customer churn).
+ 6+ years experience disrupting a market for a product, feature, or experience (e.g., competitive disruption, taking the place of an established competing product).
