+ Completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline

+ At least 7 years of directly related experience

+ Advanced knowledge of related engineering standards, techniques and criteria.



+ Excellent communication skills to comprehend and convey detailed technical data.



+ Grows developed network and maintains good interpersonal relationships, work collaboratively within a team environment.



+ Advanced problem identification and problem resolution skills.


+ Displays leadership characteristics.

You may have also acquired the following skills:


+ Control System (hardware and software) Design and Programming (VB, LabVIEW, C++)

+ Motion Control and System Integration Experience

+ Troubleshooting down to the board level of equipment with field experience.



+ Comfortable with inter-disciplinary design and collaboration combining mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electronics, electrical, software, etc.



+ Experience in analog and digital controls

As a Principal Tooling Controls Engineer in Lynchburg, VA, you will be part of the proven team in the Tooling Engineering Business Line in the Installed Base Business Unit.

The ideal Tooling Controls Engineer candidate must have a desire to be a Technical Leader in a fast-paced product development team.

Our primary customer is our Field Operations Group who must successfully implement our products at customer sites.

Typical applications are remote controlled machining, welding, Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM), and surface improvement tools.

We start with a concept and follow it through fabrication, testing, and its real-world usage with an expectation of first time Safety, Quality, and Performance.

This position requires up to 25% travel.

Your Total Rewards Package

The range of base salary for the position is between $112,000 - $152,000, and may also include annual incentives, performance bonuses and benefits.

Please note that the base salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
