Process & Operations Engineer Co-Op/Intern

Where will you work:

New Wales Manufacturing Facility at 3095 Highway 640 Mulberry, FL 33860

Housing and relocation can be provided for qualified candidates.

As a Process & Operations Engineer Co-Op/Intern, you will play a vital role in supporting plant operations and process engineering initiatives at Mosaic.

Assigned to special projects, you will assist professional engineers and plant operations teams in troubleshooting, optimization, and efficiency improvements while ensuring high product quality.

Full time Co-Op/Internship.

Typically, 36-40 hours a week on site.

9/80 schedule if applicable

What will you do?

Day to day work assignments assigned by the supervisor and could include:

  • Troubleshooting issues in phosphoric acid plants and identifying root causes.

  • Assisting with equipment efficiency tests and creating process flow diagrams.

  • Conducting mass and energy balances for various chemical processes.

  • Analyzing data to optimize plant performance.

  • Developing equipment best practice guides to facilitate knowledge transfer and optimize equipment.

  • Supporting Repair Day equipment inspections as required.

  • Optimizing evaporation circuits and filtration equipment.

  • Streamlining evaporators and filters to improve plant efficiency.

  • Conducting plant testing and troubleshooting.

  • Collaborate with plant operators, engineers, lab personnel, and contractors.

  • Participation in department meetings and meetings specific to the project assignment

  • Adhering to Mosaic’s mission, guiding principles and priorities, and key competencies

  • ​What do you need for this role?

  • Sophomore level by May 2026 or higher pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering

  • Completed Material and Energy Balances class prior to internship/co-op preferable

  • 2.75 GPA or higher 

  • 1-2 years of experience volunteering, working with student/school organizations, or work is preferred.

  • Previous internship or co-op experience is preferred.

  • Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license - You will need to be able to travel to and from sites and/or office.

  • Ability to work full time and be a student in standing at the time of the co-op/internship

  • Selected candidates will be required to successfully complete the following: Post-offer/pre-placement drug and alcohol screening, background check, physical, functional capacity examination.

  • Basic computer skills are required.

  • Experience working in a team environment is a must.

  • Familiarity with an industrial environment is highly desirable.

  • Effective verbal communication skills is a plus.

  • Physical work environment is occasionally outdoors with exposure to varying degrees of hot and cold environments.
