Project Kuiper is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network.

Candidates must be 18 years or older with the ability to understand and adhere to all job requirements and safety guidelines.
Key job responsibilities
• Lead a team of technicians as the subject matter expert on all processes within your area of responsibility
• Mentor and coach team and experience delegating tasks to team
• Champion safety requirements in all designated zones and work locations
• Successfully lead process work and review for quality and adherence to standards and procedures.
• Independently execute and prioritize work to meet production schedules
• Integration and test of the Kuiper satellite and various complex subassemblies in a cleanroom and Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) controlled environment
• Rigging and critical lifts of bulky, sensitive flight hardware
• Operate forklift, pallet jacks, and other machines to move hardware
• Experience as a spotter and calling signs to crane operators or forklift drivers
• Able to obtain and maintain licenses, operator permits, and/or certifications as required.
• Use precision calibrated tools – torque wrenches, multimeters, optical inspection devices, micrometers, and dial calipers
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
• Perform work according to procedures, specifications, and test instructions
• Run functional testing on units, including some basic troubleshooting operations
• Use computer software programs for controlling tests
• Check and inspect your work after completion to ensure engineering and quality standards are met per the drawing and work instruction requirements
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to develop and document activities, including continuous improvement opportunities
• Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient, safe and effective work environment
• Shift schedule will vary, depending on production/launch schedules.
• Must be willing and able to perform extended travel up to 25% annually, either domestically or internationally as business needs demand.
A day in the life
The Processing Lead Technician will work closely with cross-functional engineering, test, quality and operations teams on flight hardware integration processes.
This position requires skill and experience in a variety of areas, including mechanical assembly, propellent loading, rigging, operating heavy machinery (i.e., forklifts), running sub-system functional tests and troubleshooting test failures on space products.
In short, you will be responsible for a majority of the most critical tasks to process the Kuiper satellite for integration and launch operations while ensuring high quality, workmanship and safety standards are adhered to on a daily basis.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience • 3+ years experience in the aerospace industry or other high-reliability operating environment.
• 3+ years as a supervisor, lead technician, or other role requiring leading team of technicians.
• 2+ years experience with crane operations (crane certified) and using heavy machinery (forklifts, tuggers, pallet jacks).
• Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
• Experience in a fast-paced processing environment.
• Experience working with Foreign Object Debris (FOD), ESD sensitive hardware, and clean room requirements.
• A demonstrated ability in reading/understanding technical drawings, work instructions and standard operating procedures.
• Ability to use multiple types of precision measuring instruments.
• Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment.
• Able to obtain and maintain a US Passport and must meet customs entry requirements to include but not limited to: Yellow Fever vaccine and other immunization requirements as recommended by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
• Able to pass Kennedy Space Center background checks.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Currently or previously certified as a trainer with forklifts, cranes, rigging, and heavy equipment.
• Managed rigging and lift plans ; hold certification as master rigger.
• Able to stand for long periods of time and perform repetitive assembly operations.
• Able to climb and down ladders, work in tight spaces, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching may be required to perform the functions of this position.
• Able to lift at least 25 lbs.
