Job description

Title - Procurement Buyer I

Location - Newport Beach, CA
Contract – 3 Months

Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced Procurement Buyer I to manage the end-to-end procurement process primarily utilizing the Coupa Procure-to-Pay (P2P) system.

In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely and cost-effective purchasing of goods and services while strictly maintaining compliance with company policies and supplier agreements.

The ideal candidate will have strong foundational procurement knowledge, meticulous attention to detail, and direct experience with Coupa or a similar e-procurement platform.

Key Responsibilities

As the Coupa Buyer, you will:

  • Manage P2P Workflow: Create, review, and accurately process purchase requisitions and purchase orders within the Coupa system.
  • Ensure Compliance: Manage all necessary approvals and workflows, ensuring alignment with corporate procurement policies and procedures.
  • Supplier Management: Source products and services exclusively from approved suppliers, verifying compliance with existing contracts and preferred supplier lists.
  • Order Fulfillment: Proactively monitor order statuses, resolve delivery discrepancies, and follow up with suppliers to guarantee timely delivery.
  • Internal Support: Act as the first-line support for internal employees submitting requests through Coupa, including punch-out orders, non-catalog requests, and initial invoice issues.
  • Discrepancy Resolution: Collaborate closely with the Accounts Payable (AP) team to efficiently resolve all invoicing and payment discrepancies.
  • Data Integrity: Maintain accurate purchasing data and ensure Coupa master data, including supplier records, is consistently up-to-date.
  • Strategic Support: Support broader sourcing initiatives and partner with category managers to help identify and realize cost-saving opportunities.
  • Training: Provide essential training and guidance to end-users on Coupa system functionality and best practices.

    Required Qualifications

  • Experience: 2–4 years of direct purchasing and procurement experience.
  • P2P Knowledge: Solid knowledge of Procure-to-Pay processes, supplier management, and procurement compliance.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Excel; strong working skills in PowerPoint and Word.
  • Analytical Ability: Strong mathematical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Work Ethic: Proven ability to work independently and solve complex problems effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communications skills.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Procurement, or a related field.
  • Coupa Expertise: Direct Coupa experience is strongly preferred.
  • Certifications: Coupa Buyer and/or Coupa Admin certification is a plus.
  • Category Experience: Familiarity with indirect procurement categories (., IT, marketing, professional services, facilities, .
