Who We Are
Established in 1970, Tri-City Volunteers Food Bank is a non-profit organization that provides food assistance to the residents of Alameda County.
We are the largest client-direct food bank in the area.
We serve up to 6,000 individuals EVERY MONTH through our marketplace and bag lunch programs and with COVID-19, those numbers have risen exponentially.
With a staff of 6, a volunteer force of almost 1,900 individuals, and a cash budget that barely breaks $600,000, we are extremely efficient in distributing over 6 million pounds of food annually.
What You’ll Do
Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating excellent problem-solving skills and multi-tasking ability.Minimum of 2 years’ experience providing excellent customer service to diverse, low-income communities in a public-facing position.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Comfortable with presentations and public speakingStrong organizational and project management skills with exceptional attention to detailIntermediate to advanced level of proficiency with CRM, email, and MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint), and design programs such as CanvaAbility to prioritize and handle multiple assignments in a fast-paced environmentAbility to occasionally attend functions/activities outside normal hoursValid California driver’s license with insurable driving record.
Vehicle ownership not required. Preferred Qualifications
Multi-lingual, Spanish or Farsi/Dari preferredPassion for food justice and/or lived experience of challenges related to food insecurity or hunger.Knowledge of basic client intake and social services case management fundamentalsExperience in client-facing social services nonprofit organization.
Food Banking experience a plus.Strong, in-depth knowledge of and community connections in the Tri-Cities (Fremont, Union City, Newark) Personal Attributes/Values

This position is in an open warehouse environment and an office setting which requires working for a part of the shift exposed to seasonal weather temperatures.
Able to perform the following duties with or without accommodation:
Participate or assist in physical tasks and activities which include but are not limited to bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, kneeling, squatting, stooping, and reaching above shoulder height to moving product and equipment more than 50 lbs.Work with staff in a warehouse environment with temperatures ranging from minus 2 degrees to above 90 degrees.Traverse the warehouse floor frequently throughout the day to execute dutiesStand/sit for duration of scheduled shiftAble to operate computer, keyboard and telephone equipment for majority of workday shiftAbility to respond and react quickly to moving vehicles, equipment, and loud noises/sounds typical in a warehouse setting Compensation & Benefits
