The School of En gineering Medicine in collaboration with Texas A&M College of En gineering, Texas A&M School of Medicine and the state’s top-ranked Houston Methodist Hospital offer an innovative medical school program called EN M E D .

This program was established to transform healthcare through translational interdisciplinary research, the developm en t of medical technologies, and the developm en t and training of “ Physicianeers .” EN M E D delivers a revolutionary bl en ded curriculum with focus on innovation and en trepr en eurship where stud en ts receive a Doctor of Medicine and Master of En gineering degree in the same four years.




What we want

The Program Coordinator II under direction from the Director, provides advanced professional and specialized skills for planning, developing, implementing, and managing student development programs and activities, utilizing maximum campus and community resources and opportunities for the Student Affairs Office in the School of Engineering Medicine.

Salary: $3,750 monthly

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience
+ Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Four years’ experience in student affairs work or related specialty area

Preferred Qualifications
+ Professi onal experience in higher education or medical setting.
+ Demonstrated leadership experience.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
+ Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
+ Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office products Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
+ Ability to interact effectively with constituencies and to work with students, faculty, and staff.
+ Knowledge of student development theory and practice.
+ Must be adaptable to change and able to work in a team environment while entrusted to complete individual projects, as needed.
+ Must have a high level of attention to detail, strong organizational and writing skills.
+ Must possess a strong work ethic and be able to balance conflicting priorities and make decisions based on approaching deadlines.
+ Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
+ Basic familiarity with current social media.





Responsibilities

Program Support
+ Maintains student information database; primary liaison between incoming students during matriculation process; oversees career and advising programs; administrative support for Office of Career Advising; administrative support Office of Academic Success.
+ Coordinates career advising initiatives to include workshops, specialty advisors, doc talks.
+ Manages Student Affairs webpages and student extracurricular events calendar.
+ Creates grade graphs for MSPEs; upload MSPE’s into ERAS
+ Manage graduation clearances; creates and manages class rank letters.
+ Interprets and develops university/departmental rules and procedures.
+ Initiates, develops, and sustains strong positive relations with departmental leadership to ensure achievement of the mission and goals of the university/department.
+ Attends and participates in staff meetings, professional development seminars and other student support related meetings.
+ Works with Student Organizations.
+ Assists with tutoring program, student vouchers, and academic success presentations.
+ Serves as a role model, mentor, and source of support for a highly competitive academic program.
+ Plans and executes activities to foster campus community.



Operational Support/Reporting Documentation
+ Prepares, organizes, updates, and maintains program records, files, student affairs manuals and or documentation.
+ Assists in analyzing and summarizing programmatic data for review and assessment purposes.
+ Creates original correspondence, reports, presentations, documents, and program materials.
+ Provides basic program information to students, faculty, staff, and public.
+ Monitors compliance with university/departmental policies and procedures; may assist in preparing budgets and fund allocation planning.



Event Coordination
+ Responsible for planning and executing major events for the School of Engineering Medicine.
+ Events include, but are not limited to, New Student Orientation, Medical School White Coat ceremony, Match Day ceremony, Commencement ceremony and STEP 1/Transition to Medicine bootcamp.
