The Program Manager for LifeX’s Community Hub efforts is responsible for creating and executing strategies to build and engage LifeX’s key stakeholder communities, which will fuel the growth and success of LifeX programs and initiatives.
The Program Manager is instrumental in creating partnerships and access to key networks, establishing resources and platforms that serve the common needs of our entrepreneurs, and crafting events and experiences that drive value to the community.
This is a highly visible role in the regional life science and entrepreneurial ecosystem which will include external facing outreach and engagement of entrepreneurs, experts, investors, talent, and collaborative ecosystem partners.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Drives the strategy for harnessing the LifeX community of startups, experts, investors, and talent through communication and convening opportunities to establish LifeX as the hub of life science entrepreneurship in the region
- Manages direct relationships with individuals and organizations to drive strategic partnerships, industry collaborations, membership and sponsorship opportunities
- Helps to grow and curate the LifeX investor, expert, and talent networks to be incorporated across the suite of LifeX programs and services
- Collaborates closely with the Launchpad and Accelerator Program Managers to address evolving needs of LifeX programs and community members
- Coordinates a cohesive annual schedule of programming and events, both virtually and in person, that advances LifeX's goals in building and serving our community of startups, experts, investors, and talents
- Owns communication strategies with LifeX communities through regular outreach and mechanisms for capturing feedback
- Owns the management and accuracy of key stakeholder data within LifeX’s internal CRM, including expert bios, partner organizations, and startup participation across programs
- Develops community resources and services that support founders outside of our formal Accelerator and Launchpad programming
- Establishes collaborative initiatives with strategic partners such as Big Idea Center, Nucleate, PLSA, Life Sciences PA, University City Science Center, etc.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelors degree preferred
- 3-5 years of experience working in community management, outreach, or roles coordinating events and programs
- Presence in and passion for the entrepreneurial/startup community is a plus
- Demonstrated ability with building community and partnerships is preferred
- Ability to lead projects independently, with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects and time-sensitive issues for various stakeholders with time urgency while maintaining strong attention to detail, quality.
- Strong leadership, teamwork, verbal and written communications are a must.
- Comfort communicating with substance in a transparent, direct manner
This is a hybrid role with a flexible schedule which will include remote, independent work with periodic requirements to support or attend in person events and meetings in Pittsburgh.
Job Summary
Creates a commercialization program of planned outreach.
Works with faculty throughout invention lifecycle and accounts for all aspects of a commercialization package.
Coordinates across stakeholders to ensure adherence to scope, timeline, and launch plan execution.
Develops policies and procedures, prepares and maintains budgets, and performs other associated administrative duties.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong computer skills.
Self-starter, high-energy, high-focus, willing to take initiative.
Job is mostly sedentary but may require travel to meetings on and off campus.
