Role: Program Manager

Contract: 1 year potential to extend

Rate: $/hour W2

Location: Work location can be remote.

There are times when this position will be expected to work in St. Paul.

It could be several days a month to a couple days per week.

It will vary.

We are also expecting this position to travel to campuses and other locations throughout the State.

The travel expectation is 0-%.

Support the NextGen Program Manager in managing the overall NextGen enterprise resource planning (ERP) project to assist the system office in implementing Workday Student and student worker functionality, and the operationalizing of Workday HCM/Finance.

Required Skills

Candidates submitted by respondents must have the following skills: 

  • Formal Project Management certification or seven (7) years in an active Program/Project management role.

  • Three (3) years of experience working with constituents from all levels of the organization.

  • Four (4) years of Program Management with multi-year enterprise category projects.

  • Experience (minimum of one engagement) in program/project management related to an ERP or Student Information System (SIS) tool.

  • Three (3) years of proven ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment and to adapt to frequent change 
  • Five (5) years managing multiple (more than one project simultaneously) highly visible projects with limited resources while maintaining timelines and managing and providing documentation that include operational, technical, and executive levels.

  • Three (3) years of experience working in a government and/or public higher education environment as a project manager.

  • Desired Skills

    The following skills are desired for candidates submitted by respondents: 

  • Three (3) years of experience working on projects that involve multiple areas of technology (development, infrastructure, network, security) 
  • ERP experience in higher education.

  • Experience working in an environment with multiple bargaining units.

  • Experience with Workday implementation 
  • Experience with Agile and Waterfall methodologies 
  • Experience developing cooperative relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholder groups, including contractors 
  • Awareness of cultural diversity and ability to embrace those differences to create a high- functioning team 
  • Participates as part of a team, understands various work styles and strengths of others 
  • Responsibilities:

    The Program Manager will support the following program management office responsibilities: 

  • Assisting in the coordination of other project managers in NextGen 
  • Facilitating meetings and identifying risks and issues to escalate 
  • Ensuring project meets all documented milestones and deliverables, and adheres to the overall project timeline 
  • Ensuring the project complies with change management standards and procedures for all deliverables 
  • Working with other project managers/staff who may be responsible for related projects 
  • Updating documentation as required and requesting approval for significant changes to scope, deliverables, or budget 
  • Supporting the Program Manager in working with Executive Leadership for planning, governance, and communication coordination 
  • Identifying, documenting, mitigating, and addressing risks and issues in collaboration with team 
  • Reinforcing governance processes
