Job description

Position Summary

UB’s unit is seeking a Programmer Analyst to support UB’s electronic research administration efforts.

The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, customer focused and flexible to shift with changing priorities and needs.

In this role, you will create and maintain web-based solutions that support Vice President for Research and Economic Development (VPRED) administrative offices and faculty members in achieving their business objectives.

The ideal candidate brings strong server-side development experience (preferably in Coldfusion) along with modern front-end development skills.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop comprehensive web-based solutions across various university contexts and departments

  • Maintain and enhance existing applications through proactive troubleshooting, bug fixes, and feature improvements

  • Integrate with vendor applications through web services and APIs

  • Provide technical expertise in managing website content within our CMS platform

  • Respond to and resolve customer support requests for supported applications

  • Data/reporting functions working with SQL

  • Assist in managing Windows servers

    Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field

  • 2 years of experience with CFML (Adobe Coldfusion, Lucee) or equivalent server-side languages (PHP, Ruby, Python)

  • Strong proficiency in SQL, particularly with Oracle or similar databases (MySQL, MSSQL)

  • Demonstrated experience with MVC frameworks (Wheels or equivalent frameworks like Rails, Laravel)

  • Solid understanding of modern JavaScript and jQuery

  • Expertise in newer CSS practices, including Flexbox and Grid layouts
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with modern CFML practices, including CFscript and CommandBox

  • Knowledge of Windows server administration

  • Previous experience working in higher education

  • Familiarity with university compliance requirements and regulations

  • Track record of successful project completion in an academic environment
  • Physical Demands Salary Range $65,000 - $80,000 Additional Salary Information The salary range reflects our good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible compensation at the time of posting, the role and associated responsibilities, and the experience, education, and training of the selected candidate.
