Project Engineer – Electrical & Control Systems


Location: Indianapolis, IN

Full-Time | Direct Hire

Estimated Salary: ~ $95K–$105K+ (depending on experience & education)



A well-established systems integration firm in the Indianapolis, IN area is actively seeking a Project Engineer to support the design, development, and execution of electrical and control systems—primarily within the water and wastewater treatment sector.

This role offers the chance to manage full project lifecycles, serve as a key liaison with customers, and contribute to high-impact engineering initiatives.

If you have experience in electrical design and control systems and enjoy problem-solving in a team-oriented environment, this could be a strong fit.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee project design, execution, and closeout
  • Serve as the primary contact for internal and external project stakeholders
  • Lead project coordination, budgeting, scheduling, and reporting
  • Prepare drawings, calculations, and bills of materials
  • Assist in panel design, equipment testing, programming, and startup
  • Support and review work of junior engineers and support staff
  • Participate in factory acceptance testing, field start-ups, and customer training
  • Maintain accurate documentation and communication throughout project life



  • Required Skills & Experience:
  • Experience in a project engineering role or similar
  • Proficiency with electrical CAD software
  • Strong understanding of control panels, instrumentation, and system integration
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities



  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • AutoCAD Electrical proficiency
  • Water/Wastewater industry experience (strongly preferred)
  • 2–4 year degree in Electrical Engineering



  • Additional Details:
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm (flexible shift start available)
  • Work Environment: Business casual
  • Travel: Primarily local, with occasional overnight stays (company paid)
  • Remote Work: Possible for experienced candidates, but on-site presence preferred
  • Sponsorship: Not available for this role
  • Background Check: Required
