Job Overview

The Project Manager is a two-year, renewable, term role that provides project and financial management support for the Privacy and Cryptography Lab in the Computer Science Department within the College of Arts & Sciences at Georgetown University.

The Privacy and Cryptography Lab project management includes, but is not limited to, pre-grant support and post-award support through collaboration with colleagues in the Joint Office of Research Administration; facilitation of hiring processes and budget management; organization of conferences and meetings, including travel, space, contracts, catering, etc.; reimbursement processing, supporting visitors, managing calendars, etc.

This position monitors project progress and deadlines and supports faculty in coordinating and preparing required reports.

Importantly, this position serves as the liaison between the project members (faculty, postdocs, graduate students and staff) and funders and supports the scholarly and collegial relationships within the groups.

The position may require paid travel to support off-site workshops.

When possible, the position will also provide general support to the department administration.
Work Interactions

The Project Manager reports to the Department Chair and the head of the Privacy and Cryptography Lab.

The position interacts frequently with faculty, students and guests of the department, as well as liaises with vendors and colleagues throughout the university (e.g., Dean’s Office, Provost’s Office units including Faculty Affairs and the Joint Office of Research Administration, Office of the Chief Financial Officer, Human Resources, etc.).

The position also interacts with administrators and staff at other universities and outside vendors.
Requirements and Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree
+ Demonstrated skill in project management and operations, with a preference for experience in higher education institutions
+ Minimum of 6-8 years progressive work experience in financial and administrative operations, preferably in an institution of higher education
+ Understanding and knowledge of current software and financial management tools
+ Ability to learn quickly, be resourceful and work well on a team
+ Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Word and Excel
+ Ability to learn to use different content management systems such as Google web forms, and web content management systems
+ Excellent oral and written communication skills
+ Skilled and successful at prioritizing work and multi-tasking to meet deadlines

This position has been designated as Hybrid.

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$66,783.00 - $126,720.23

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
