Summary/Scope
The Project Manager II (PM2) is accountable for the successful execution of projects focused on infrastructure buildouts and installations within warehouse environments.
The position is responsible for projects of a small to medium scale within a single division of the company, or a section of a larger, more complex project.
While executing a small/medium scope project as the only PM, this individual operates autonomously with guidance from the Sr. PM or RPM and is responsible for all site activities including, safety, staffing, production, expense management, quality, and client interactions for the project.
The PM2 participates in the hiring of employees, administering disciplinary actions as appropriate, and providing recommendations on compensation for direct reports.
While working on a section of a larger, more complex, project, the PM reports to the Sr. PM who is responsible for the entire project, or to another PM who is managing a portion of the project.
This role typically includes regular interaction, coaching, and development of Team Leads.
The PM2 should understand current challenges and progress of a project and have the ability to communicate frequently and appropriately with management and with the client as needed.
This role should hold a level of expertise sufficient to problem solve and drive process improvement and may assume increased scope of responsibilities under direction of management to gain experience necessary to become a Sr. Project Manager.
Responsibilities
Site preparation and evaluation, scoping and staffing Training and development of Team Leads and Assistant Project Managers Demonstrates safety leadership by modeling safe work methods, identifying risk and ensuring that all workers are trained on health & safety, including any required certifications such as powered lift equipment and working at heights Ensures safety inductions take place regularly and completes safety tool talks weekly and at other intervals as necessary Responsible for project execution and control activities, including quality assurance, issue resolution, risk control and monitoring, compliance management, project performance reporting, expense management Ensures appropriate equipment is acquired and on site when needed Forecasts site staffing needs and communicates with HR and Sr. PM/RPM Tracks production and budget information Communication with management - updates on team and individual performance Organization and deployment of employee and physical resources Subject Matter expertise over area of responsibility Creative problem solving - ability to think critically and resolve project issues Handles multiple priorities and deliverables to target dates Assumes responsibility for own career development Competencies
Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools related to commercial build-outs/warehouse installations Technical expertise as required based upon the tasks/function being managed e.g. interpreting plans, specifications, and drawings; good knowledge of assembly, and use of hand tools Effective time management with ability to obtain and organize employee resources and physical resources, such as equipment, tools, and all materials needed to complete the project successfully Ability to adapt and respond to change Ability to influence others and partner with peers and corporate resources (HR, Finance, IT) to achieve goals Ability to work with diverse personalities and to communicate professionally with clients, suppliers, management, employees, and temporary agency staff. Education & Experience Required
Minimum of 3 years of management experience which may be in the Assistant Project Manager role, or Team Lead within NPSG, or a management role in construction, manufacturing, engineering, logistics, warehousing, or related industry outside the company.
OSHA 10, 30, Red Badge (AR), construction/mfg.
