Skills You’ll Need:
Education.
Bachelor's degree or its equivalent with emphasis on the sciences is required.
A degree in Engineering or Construction Management is preferred.
Experience.
Two years experience estimating and managing projects with public works contracts related to paving, highway, and heavy construction is preferred.
Functional Knowledge.
Must have the ability to read construction drawings and to perform two- and three-dimensional quantity take off.
Knowledge of local, state and federal municipal public works specifications is preferred.
Math Skills. Must have knowledge of mathematical formulas and the ability to deal with dimensional analysis.
Must be able to use Microsoft Excel.
Time Management Skills.
Must have good organizational skills and the ability to handle multi-faceted, complex projects.
Must be able to work well under pressure, be task oriented and self-motivated, requiring little supervision.
Interpersonal Skills. Must be able to form strong social relationships and effectively communicate with both internal and external audiences.
Financial Knowledge.
Must have the ability to perform cost analysis.
Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including job costing procedures is required.
Knowledge of contract administration in the construction industry is preferred.
