Overview
VOCAL is in search of an RF engineer who is highly capable in implementing solutions for various wireless technologies including cellular, RF and WiFi. The engineer will join a team responsible for designing, developing, coding and testing solutions through productization.
The ideal candidate has experience delivering real-time embedded solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, code and test RF and related embedded solutions as part of productization efforts.
- Collaborate with hardware and software teams to prototype, tune algorithms and coordinate software and hardware development activities.
- Research new technologies for inclusion into VOCAL’s custom product offerings.
Qualifications
- Comprehensive theoretical understanding of analog/RF principles and implementation strategies.
- Experience in hardware design for RF systems and mobile communications systems.
- Knowledge of system and subsystem considerations: grounding, shielding, isolation, and EMI control.
- Understanding of RF link budget and Rx AGC operation and optimization techniques.
- Familiarity with RF component characteristics and Analog/RF CAD tools.
- Test equipment experience: spectrum analyzer, signal generator, oscilloscope.
- Desirable: Digital electronics and telecommunications network experience, including designing acoustic DSP algorithms for embedded processors and analyzing performance impacts (e.g., resource estimates like MIPS, ROM, RAM).
- Ability to coordinate software and hardware development activities with other engineers (prototyping and tuning algorithms).
- Familiarity with performance testing and test equipment (network analyzer, packet sniffer).
- Clearance: Must be clearance eligible.
Education Requirements
- Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field (8+ years of relevant work experience may substitute for a Master’s/PhD).
