Reference and Instructional Librarian Job Opening In St. Louis – Now Hiring University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis

University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy (UHSP) is currently seeking a Reference and Instructional Librarian to provide reference and research services, information literacy instruction, university archives support, and collection development.

As a part of this role, you will also manage the library services desk using student employees.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Provide in-person and virtual research assistance and consultations to faculty, staff, students and others.
  • Create instructional materials, including tutorials, research guides and course-specific tools.
  • Collaborate with faculty to design and teach curriculum-integrated information literacy instruction sessions across a wide range of academic disciplines.
  • Collaborate with faculty to develop assignments and incorporate new resources into courses.
  • Create assessment tools to measure effectiveness of library instruction.
  • Participate in orientation sessions for new and returning students.
  • Supervise operations of the library services desk.
  • Supervise student employees at the library services desk.
  • Assist students, faculty, staff and the community with research using archival material.
  • Participate in ongoing collection development.

  • Qualifications

    To succeed in this role, you will need:

    Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited library science or information science program.
  • Familiarity with standard research databases.
  • Ability to use technology in instruction.
  • Very strong computer and technological skills.
  • Ability to develop and deliver engaging library instruction incorporating technology.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • One year minimum of reference and library instruction experience preferred.

  • Experience managing student employees preferred.
