Job Description Job Description Position : Reliability Engineer in Mechanical and Maintenance for the Paper and Pulp Wood Products sector.
Industry : Paper and Pulp / Packaging.
Location : Franklin, Virginia (Relocation assistance available) Salary: Based on experience.
Required Skills/Knowledge : Continuous Improvement and Pulp Manufacturing.
Responsibilities include serving as a role model for workplace safety, promoting a Culture of Reliability through Manufacturing Work Systems, Training, and Deliberate Improvement.
Analyze chronic equipment failures and high-maintenance/cost equipment using root cause failure analysis.
Review maintenance-related downtime weekly to develop and implement solutions to prevent recurrence.
Understand the sources of downtime and ensure appropriate responses to eliminate repeat issues.
Provide technical support for daily production and maintenance challenges.
Advocate for preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
Maintain the Mechanical Integrity program and procedures for Process Safety Management.
Contribute to area maintenance budgets for significant maintenance items and optimizations.
Analyze financial service costs against targets and address equipment not meeting cost performance goals.
Develop long-term maintenance plans for rotating equipment, rebuilds, and major maintenance.
Estimate, plan, and manage maintenance projects within budget for routine work, quarterly outages, and major outages.
Oversee capital and expense project design, development, and execution.
Manage contractor work for routine and major shutdown jobs according to mill standards using best engineering practices.
Ensure effective use and integrity of the CMMS system (SAP) to sustain maintenance practices and improve equipment.
Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering is required.
Candidates should possess 5 to 10 years of experience in the paper and pulp manufacturing sector.
A minimum of 3 years of engineering experience in the continuous process industry is essential, with a preference for those with a background in kraft pulp manufacturing.
Familiarity with Maintenance Best Practices is necessary.
Must have a working knowledge of ASME, NBIC, and API codes, as well as OSHA regulations.
Comprehensive understanding of rotating equipment, pressure vessels, piping systems, and atmospheric storage tanks is required.
Proficiency in the use of precision measurement tools and assembly techniques is expected.
The ability to instruct others is essential.
Strong interpersonal skills are required to collaborate effectively within a diverse organization.
Must be capable of thriving in a high-performance team environment.
The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously is crucial.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong organizational, planning, and facilitation skills, are necessary to achieve results through collaboration with others.
Proficient computer skills are required, with a preference for experience in SAP.
